Student answer (Band 6.0)

No doubt, the modern lifestyle has put a bad impact on individuals' lives, whether they smoke or use unwanted drugs to pretend they have a high lifestyle. This eassy argues that smoking should be against the law because it can cause dangerous health issues. In my opinion, I completely agree with the statement because it is an unhealthy lifestyle and distracts youngsters.

On the one hand, smoking has become a daily habit of people, and they consider it is a part of their lifestyle. One of the reason is a hectic life; work pressure and personal conflict are found the most prominent reasons for their smoking.Consequently, respiratory disorders and heart diseases normaly can be observe among people and shortenend their lifespan. Moreover, our young generation is more likely to lean towards smoke habit which encourage them involve in illegal activities more, and they do not remain goal-oriented in their life. Unfortunately they lost their health and active mind, which helps them to focus on their life aim and careers.

To consider these drawbacks, the government should take the initiative to make it illegal if it wants to save our generation. They should ban these illegal products such as tobacco and other health-hazard products that not only badly effects people health but also misguide our generation to follow an unhealthy lifestyle. As a result, they waste their valuable time that they have to put on their career. In addition, the government should educate people about its ill effects on their bodies by arranging educational camps, rehab centres, and also providing education during their school time. Heavily fined or punishment should be given to those who selling such unhealthy products to people.

In conclusion, however smoking helps them to get relief from their stressful environment for few hours; people should not neglect its ill effects on their body which would be life-threatening for them. So, in my perspective, authorities should completely ban it for people's health safety.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction—“I completely agree”—and remains consistent in the conclusion, so the response directly addresses the question. You give relevant reasons, including respiratory and heart diseases, effects on young people, and possible government action. This meets the task well, but some points are asserted rather than explained: for example, the claim that smoking leads young people towards “illegal activities” is not supported with a clear link or example. The discussion also shifts between making smoking illegal and banning tobacco sales, without clarifying what the proposed law would prohibit. Develop the strongest reasons with specific explanation and distinguish between banning smoking and regulating the sale of tobacco to make the argument more complete.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a recognisable structure: an introduction, a paragraph explaining harms, a paragraph proposing government action, and a conclusion. The progression from health effects to possible responses is generally easy to follow, and connectors such as “Moreover,” “As a result,” and “In conclusion” help signal relationships. However, some links feel mechanical or do not clearly connect the ideas. For instance, the move from smoking to “illegal activities” is abrupt, and “To consider these drawbacks” does not clearly introduce the government’s response. References such as “they” in the final body paragraph can also leave it unclear whether you mean smokers, young people, or sellers. Use more precise transitions and make each paragraph’s central point explicit.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.5

You attempt a range of topic-related vocabulary, including “respiratory disorders,” “heart diseases,” “goal-oriented,” and “life-threatening,” which helps communicate the subject. There are also some noticeable word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems that make parts of the argument less natural, such as “put a bad impact,” “lean towards smoke habit,” and “ill effects on their bodies.” Spelling errors such as “eassy,” “normaly,” and “shortenend” further reduce accuracy. Some phrases are vague or imprecise, including “unwanted drugs” and “health-hazard products.” Aim for accurate, conventional collocations and check spelling; a smaller set of precise expressions will be more effective than awkward attempts at more complex wording.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You use both simple statements and longer sentences with clauses, as in “In my opinion, I completely agree with the statement because…” and the sentence beginning “In addition, the government should educate people…”. Meaning is generally recoverable, but some errors in sentence structure, agreement, verb forms, and punctuation remain. For example, “One of the reason is” needs a plural noun, while “disorders … can be observe” has an incorrect verb form. In “products that not only badly effects people health,” the clause has agreement and possessive errors. Several sentences also run together without appropriate spaces or punctuation. Review subject–verb agreement and verb forms, and proofread sentence boundaries while retaining your attempts at complex structures.
