Student answer (Band 5.0)

One of the most conspicuous trends of today's world is a colossal upsurge in the number of people believing that serious illnesses can be caused by smoking and it should be illegal. There is a widespread worry that this will lead to myriad of concerns in life. In my opinion, I totally agree with this viewpoint.

To commence with, there are number of arguments in favour of smoking is cause of illnesses and should be made illegal. One of the most prominent is that it use of dangerous of chemical to make this. It cannot only make them mentally disable, but also contribute to destroy from inside. Because people do not have anythong in their stomachs without dangerous chemicals. For instance, the study is done in 2017 in Nagaland found that 80% of people are dying due to smoking illnesses. Thanks to the wide of advatanges of governemnt who takes the steps to ban it.

Futhermore, It should be illegal because if it ban then nobody buy it and people can save their money. A lot of family can save their one member who is at the edge of died. This is the main viewpoint. So government should take same serious actions to solve this problem.

On the other hand, Some people it should not be illegal because they think that it should be consumed less when people consume more than they need it puts bad impact on their body, But they should try portion of it.

Conclusion, Few individuals things it should be banned because lives can be saved, However, some says it should not be illegal because ithey sould consume more than want.

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You state a clear position in the introduction—“I totally agree”—and give relevant reasons, including health risks and the possibility of protecting family members. However, the response only partially develops the task. The claim that smoking causes illness is repeated, but the explanation about “dangerous chemicals” is unclear, and the Nagaland statistic is not explained or connected convincingly to a ban. The paragraph supporting the opposing view is also difficult to follow and does not explain why people might oppose prohibition. To strengthen your response, develop two or three reasons with clear explanations and relevant examples, and address the opposing view accurately before reaffirming your position.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

Your response has an introduction, separate body paragraphs and a conclusion, and signposting such as “To commence with,” “Furthermore” and “On the other hand” shows an effort to organise ideas. However, the overall progression is not consistently clear: the first body paragraph combines health effects, an unclear claim about food, a statistic and government action without showing how these points connect. Some linking phrases are mechanical or do not express the relationship accurately, and the final paragraph introduces a counterargument that is hard to interpret. Improve cohesion by giving each paragraph one main point, arranging supporting explanation and examples in a logical order, and using clear references and transitions between ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You attempt a range of topic-related and formal vocabulary, including “serious illnesses,” “prominent,” “contribute” and “illegal.” However, the range is limited by repeated or inaccurate expressions that sometimes make meaning difficult to understand. For example, “a colossal upsurge in the number of people believing” does not clearly express the issue, while “wide of advatanges” and “edge of died” are not natural English phrases. Spelling errors such as “Futhermore,” “governemnt” and “anythong” also reduce accuracy. Aim for precise, natural collocations rather than elaborate wording, and check spelling and word forms. The suggestions below offer alternatives that fit your argument.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a contrast introduced by “On the other hand” and a clause beginning “because.” However, the range is limited, and errors are frequent enough to make several sentences difficult to understand. For example, “there are number of arguments in favour of smoking is cause of illnesses” has problems with articles and sentence structure, while “it use of dangerous of chemical” does not form a clear grammatical clause. There are also errors in agreement and verb forms, as in “some says” and “who takes the steps.” Practise building accurate subject–verb–object sentences first, then add subordinate clauses, checking articles, agreement and punctuation.
