Student answer (Band 6.0)

In this modern era, people are too habitable to smoking. As it has negative effect to health, some argue that government should ban smoking. I strongly agree to this nation and this essay will justified my side with proper explanation along with suitable example in upcoming paragraphs.

Explaining the supporting point to this statement. Smoking leads the issue of cancers, as it has tobacco in it , which cause heart diseases, lung problem and so much more. A part from that , non- passive as well as passive smoker both might gets serious illnesses for that smoking should ban in for healthy life of mankind. For example, as peer the survey of world health organization , every day around more than 2000 human get effected my smoking, in which ration of children and old people are more.

In addition to this, another supporting point is smoking increase the public health cost. To illustrated it, government needs to build more health care system and need of more specialist doctors. For that authorities need to invest more to have better treatment for effected people as a result, massive financial burden can be seen on public health system To cite an example, in India every year national authorities spent more that 500 cores on awareness program, which is double than some infrastructure development cost.

To conclude, smoking leads to serious health issue and should be made illegal. I strongly believe for the better life of citizen and protect them from heart diseases, lung problem and save the cost of country , there should be a ban on smoking .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

Your position is clear from the introduction (“I strongly agree”) and conclusion, and you give two relevant reasons: smoking-related illness and the financial pressure on public healthcare. The examples about passive smoking and government spending also help address the prompt. This meets the task well overall, but the argument is not fully developed in places. In particular, the healthcare-cost paragraph explains treatment expenses but does not clearly show why making smoking illegal would reduce them, and the claim about spending on awareness programmes needs clearer support. To strengthen the response, explain how a ban could work and acknowledge a relevant counterpoint, such as personal freedom or the risk of an illegal market, before explaining why health protection should take priority.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The response has a clear overall structure: an introduction, two body paragraphs presenting separate reasons, and a conclusion that restates your position. Signposting such as “In addition to this” helps readers follow the progression. However, some linking is mechanical or awkward, and a few connections between ideas are unclear. For example, “For that” does not clearly connect the need for doctors to the claim about public costs, while “To cite an example” introduces a figure without explaining how it supports the preceding point. The opening fragment, “Explaining the supporting point to this statement,” also interrupts the flow. Use complete topic sentences and make each example’s relevance explicit; vary transitions and use pronouns or reference phrases carefully to connect ideas.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use relevant topic vocabulary, including “passive smoker,” “serious illnesses,” “health care system,” and “financial burden,” so the reader can understand the main subject and reasons. However, the range and control of word choice are limited, with noticeable errors in collocation, word form, and spelling. Phrases such as “too habitable to smoking,” “agree to this nation,” and “effected people” are unclear or unnatural, and “ration of children” appears to be an inaccurate word choice. These errors sometimes make the reader pause to infer your meaning. Build a bank of accurate collocations for health and policy, and check spelling and word forms carefully. More precise vocabulary would help you express the argument without relying on repeated general terms such as “problem” and “more.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt both simple and more complex sentences, including a cause-and-effect structure in “As it has negative effect to health…” and a result clause in the healthcare paragraph. However, control is inconsistent, and errors occur often enough to make some sentences difficult to process. Examples include “which cause heart diseases” (subject–verb agreement), “both might gets” (modal verb form), and “government should ban smoking” (article use). The opening sentence of the first body paragraph is a fragment, and punctuation around clauses and sentence boundaries is sometimes faulty. Practise building accurate sentences with one main clause and a clearly attached supporting clause, then check agreement, articles, and verb forms. Greater accuracy in these patterns would make your ideas easier to follow.
