Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points: you explain that music is played loudly late at night, describe how it affects your concentration and sleep while examinations are approaching, and request lower volume after 10 p.m. or the use of headphones. The polite, clear request gives the letter a consistent purpose, and the reasons are relevant. However, the response contains 137 words, so it does not meet the required minimum of 150. This limits the opportunity to develop the situation and your request further. Add a little detail, such as how often the noise occurs or a suggestion to discuss a suitable quiet time, while keeping the tone considerate.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The ideas follow a sensible order: greeting and purpose, explanation of the noise, its effects, and a proposed solution. Linking expressions such as “however” and “since” help show relationships between points, and the closing is appropriate for a neighbourly letter. The main limitation is that the response is presented as one continuous block, so the stages of the message are not visually separated. Some transitions also feel crowded because several ideas are joined in a long sentence. Use short paragraphs for the problem, its impact, and your request, and add clear sentence breaks to make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.5
You use relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “examinations,” “concentrate,” “low volume,” and “headphones,” and the meaning is generally understandable. However, several word-choice, collocation, and spelling problems reduce precision: “making me quite disturbing” does not express the intended effect, “late night” needs a more natural form, and “paticularly,” “headphomes,” and “coperation” are misspelled. There is also repetition in “a small attention” and “a small issue.” Aim for natural phrases such as “causing me considerable disruption” and “late at night,” and proofread carefully for spelling and repeated wording.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes a mix of simple statements and more developed structures, such as “since you moved to the house next door” and “it would be very helpful if you use…”. The intended meaning is usually clear, but some grammatical errors and punctuation problems remain. For example, the opening lacks a clear sentence boundary after “Dear neighbour,” and “I understand that everyone loves and enjoy” has a subject–verb agreement error. The sentence beginning “however” also joins several ideas without clear punctuation, while “I study for long late night” has an unclear grammatical structure. Use complete sentences, check agreement, and separate the effects on study and sleep into clear clauses.
