Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the central problem—late-night music—and explain that it disrupts both your studying and sleep. You also mention that you have already spoken to the neighbours and state a possible next step, so the main situation is relevant to the task. However, the explanation of your difficulties is partly repetitive: your exam preparation and university ambitions are described more than once, while the effect on sleep is not developed. The requested action is also unclear because you focus on reporting the neighbours to the police rather than directly asking them to reduce the volume or stop playing music late at night. Make that request explicit and develop each point more evenly to address the task more fully. (The response includes 9 words copied from the task prompt.)

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The letter has a recognisable opening, several body paragraphs and a closing, and the reader can generally follow the sequence from the noise problem to its effects and your proposed response. However, progression is weakened by the repeated exam-preparation point and by connectors such as “firstly,” “secondly” and “Lastly,” which create a mechanical list rather than a smooth explanation. Some links are unclear, particularly the shift from your part-time job to your university ambitions and then to police action. Paragraphs would work better if each developed one clear purpose: describe the noise, explain its impact, and make a direct request. Use fewer sequencing markers and connect ideas through their meaning.

Lexical Resource: Band 4.5

You use some relevant vocabulary for the situation, including “late at night,” “studies and sleep,” “final exam” and “positive response.” However, the range is limited and several spelling and word-choice errors make parts of the letter difficult to understand, such as “preprestion,” “louldly,” “aproch” and “stiution.” Some combinations are also unnatural, including “take an action against my neighbours” and “give me a peace of mind.” These issues fit a basic, repetitive vocabulary range with errors that can strain the reader. Build accuracy by learning common phrases for noise complaints and requests, and check spelling carefully. For example, “the music is too loud” is clearer than “music sound is too louldly.”

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5

You attempt both simple and longer sentence forms, and the main message is usually recoverable. However, sentence boundaries and grammatical patterns are often faulty. The opening joins two independent ideas with a comma (“I am writing this letter to express my problems, I have been facing still now”), while “Its too much interrupt me” lacks a clear grammatical structure. Other examples include “I never focused on my preprestion” and “I hope you will understood,” where verb forms are not controlled. Punctuation and spacing are also inconsistent, making the letter harder to read. Practise building accurate simple sentences first, then combine them with clauses using “because,” “which” or “so”; check verb forms and sentence boundaries during proofreading.
