Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.0

You identify the central problem—late-night music—and explain two relevant effects: it triggers your migraines and makes it difficult to study before exams. You also make a polite request for the neighbours to take the matter seriously. However, the action you want is not stated clearly: specify that they should lower the volume or stop playing music after a particular time. The explanation of how the noise affects your sleep is also missing, despite this being part of the situation. The response is substantially below the required 150 words, so the ideas remain limited and under-developed. Add these details and develop the request to address all parts of the task more fully.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.5

The message follows a sensible order: it introduces the complaint, explains its effects, and ends with a request. Connectors such as “Additionally” and “therefore” help show how the exam situation relates to your need for quiet, and the email format makes the purpose clear. This coherent arrangement meets the lower-band expectations and shows some features of stronger progression. However, the response is very brief and presented as one continuous block, so the ideas are not separated into clear paragraphs. The opening sentence beginning “Although” is also left incomplete before the next sentence, which interrupts the flow. Use a separate paragraph for the effects and make the request more specific to strengthen the progression.

Lexical Resource: Band 6.0

You use an adequate range of vocabulary to communicate the complaint and its effects, including “express my disappointment,” “triggers my pain,” and “concentrate on my studies.” The tone is generally polite and appropriate for a neighbour. There are also some imprecise or unnatural choices: “you guys” is too casual for this complaint, while “comply with my request” sounds overly formal and forceful. “Quiet environment” would be more natural as “a quiet environment,” and “late night music” could be expressed more precisely as “loud music late at night.” These choices do not prevent understanding, but more natural collocations and consistent register would make the message clearer and more effective.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and more complex structures, including “Because I am a migraine patient and loud music triggers my pain” and the sentence using “therefore.” The main message remains understandable, but some grammatical errors affect accuracy. “Although I was stopping myself to contact you” uses an unsuitable verb form and pattern; write “Although I hesitated to contact you.” The sentence beginning “Because” is a fragment and should be joined to the previous sentence or rewritten. Other issues include “if you will take” instead of “if you would take,” missing articles in “a quiet environment,” and punctuation spacing around “pain.” Check sentence boundaries and conditional forms while retaining your attempts at complex sentences.
