Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: the problem is identified, the impact on your studies is explained, and a request for action is made. However, the development of these ideas is limited by significant language errors that make the tone and purpose occasionally unclear. For instance, the letter is addressed to 'Sir' but the content suggests you are writing to the neighbours themselves, or perhaps a landlord, which creates confusion. The ideas are relevant, but the lack of clarity in the expression of the situation prevents a higher score. To improve, ensure your purpose is clearly defined from the opening sentence and that the relationship between the writer and the recipient is consistent throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The letter is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'My all colleagues' are repeated frequently, which creates a repetitive and unnatural flow. Transitions between ideas are sometimes abrupt, such as the jump from describing the neighbours to discussing your exams. While there is an overall attempt at a logical progression, the lack of variety in linking words and the repetitive nature of the sentence structure hinder the flow of the letter. Using a wider range of transition signals would improve the coherence significantly.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You rely heavily on basic words like 'very', 'big', and 'tell'. There are also frequent errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'job person' instead of 'working professional' or 'colleague'. The phrase 'My all neighbours very disturb' is grammatically incorrect and uses 'disturb' where 'disturbed' or 'bothered' is required. To reach a higher band, you need to expand your vocabulary to include more precise terms related to noise complaints and academic pressure, and focus on using words in their correct grammatical forms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede communication. Issues include subject-verb agreement ('my 12th class exam is start'), incorrect verb tenses ('they are coming to late'), and awkward sentence construction ('I am writing this letter to request you my neighbours play music'). The range of structures is limited, consisting mostly of simple sentences with errors in basic syntax. Punctuation is also inconsistent. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence structures, specifically subject-verb-object order, and practice the correct use of articles and prepositions, which are currently missing or misused in many instances.
