Hi neighbours,
I hope you are doing well. My name is Sandeep Kaur. I am living in the apartment next to yours.
I am writing a letter because I have been experiencing difficulties due to the loud music being played late at night. it is happening from last few nights and music continued until after midnight. it makes difficult for me to concentrate on my studies and to get a good sleep.
the reason this is a problem that I have an ielts exam next week and i need a quiet environment to prepare because i have not been sleeping well
i often feel so tired and also i cannot focused on studies during the day i am worried that this may affect on my performance in exam.
i completely understand that you are enjoying in your new home by playing music and may feel relaxed. but, i would be very grateful if you reduce the volume and stop playing music after 10 p.m. until my exam is over. i really appreciate your understanding and cooperation.
Thank you for your time .and i hope we can continue to be good neighbours
best wishes

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 8.0
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points: the problem is clearly identified as loud music, the impact on your studies and sleep is explained, and a specific request for a volume reduction is made. The tone is appropriate for a letter to a neighbour, maintaining a polite yet firm stance. All parts of the task are covered well, and the purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning. To reach a higher band, you could expand slightly on the specific nature of the music or the exact times it occurs to provide more detail, but overall, the response is complete and well-focused.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a closing. Ideas progress naturally from the problem to the impact and finally to the proposed solution. You use some cohesive devices such as 'the reason this is a problem' and 'but, i would be very grateful', which help the flow. However, the paragraphing is a bit inconsistent, and some sentences are joined in a way that feels slightly disjointed. Improving the use of transition words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear focus would enhance the overall structure.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for this task, such as 'experiencing difficulties', 'concentrate', and 'cooperation'. The language is generally natural and appropriate for the context. There are some minor errors in word choice, such as 'affect on my performance' (should be 'affect my performance') and 'enjoying in your new home' (should be 'enjoying your new home'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your message clearly, incorporating a few more sophisticated collocations or less common expressions would help elevate your score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are several grammatical errors, particularly with verb tenses and prepositions, such as 'it is happening from last few nights' (should be 'it has been happening for the last few nights') and 'cannot focused' (should be 'cannot focus'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, with some missing capital letters at the start of sentences and erratic spacing. While these errors do not impede communication, they occur frequently enough to prevent a higher score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and consistent punctuation will significantly improve your accuracy.
