New neighbours have recently moved into the house/flat next door to where you live. You have examinations soon, but your neighbours play music late at night which is affecting your studies and sleep.

Student answer (Band 8.0)

Dear Neighbour,

I am glad to have you as my neighbour. I hope you feel welcomed in our society. I am writing to request to lower down the volume of music which you play during the nights.

I am a science student and preparing for my final exam which are going to be held next month. Since you play loud music, I am not able to focus on my studies. Furthermore, it also affects my sleep, as a result, I couldn’t stay awake during my morning classes. Consequently, it may reduce my productivity during the exams.

I prefer to study in a quiet environment because it helps me to concentrate and focus more on studies. During the day, I can go to the local library, while during the nights, I don’t have any another option instead of staying home because the library closed at 6:00 pm.

I would appreciate it if you could refrain from playing music, especially after 10:00 pm. In fact, you may not aware about that the society’s rules about the music that states music should not be played during the nights, particularly on weekdays. I would be grateful if you could use headphones even on the days just for a month.

I hope you will consider my request favourably. Once my exam will be over, we can go for a dinner or a movie. Please let me know what you think about it.
