Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response addresses all three bullet points: explaining the noise problem, describing the impact on your studies, and requesting action. However, the letter is under the 150-word minimum, which significantly impacts the development of your ideas. The tone is inconsistent; you address the neighbours directly but also ask to 'change my room,' which is confusing as you are writing to the neighbours, not a landlord. To improve, ensure you fully develop each point with more detail and maintain a consistent, polite, and formal tone throughout the letter.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter is divided into short, fragmented paragraphs. While there is a basic attempt at logical progression, the lack of cohesive devices makes the writing feel disjointed. You rely on simple sentence structures and lack transition words to link your ideas smoothly. For example, the jump between explaining the problem and asking to change rooms is abrupt. Using linking words like 'consequently,' 'furthermore,' or 'therefore' would help improve the flow and logical connection between your sentences and paragraphs.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. You use basic words like 'problem,' 'reading,' and 'music' repeatedly. There are also errors in word choice, such as 'shift action' instead of 'swift action' and 'effecting' instead of 'affecting.' To reach a higher band, you should aim to use a wider range of vocabulary related to the context, such as 'disturbing,' 'concentration,' 'academic performance,' and 'considerate.' The current vocabulary is just enough to convey the basic message but lacks the precision required for a higher score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including missing articles ('at night' instead of 'in night'), incorrect verb forms ('i m student'), and punctuation issues. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and there is a lack of complex sentences. For instance, 'i can not proper sleep' should be 'I cannot sleep properly.' These errors, while not completely impeding communication, occur frequently enough to distract the reader. Focusing on subject-verb agreement, proper article usage, and sentence variety will help improve your accuracy.
