Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The response covers all three bullet points: identifying the problem, explaining the impact on studies and sleep, and requesting action. However, the response is under the 150-word minimum, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. The tone is inconsistent; while it attempts to be formal, the threat of 'legal action' in the final paragraph is overly aggressive and inappropriate for a first-time request to a neighbour, which undermines the task's communicative purpose. To improve, you should expand on your points with more detail and adopt a more polite, persuasive tone.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is divided into paragraphs, which helps the overall structure. However, the logical progression is hindered by frequent grammatical errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'This nuisance increase then i will take legal action'. The use of cohesive devices is limited and often inaccurate, making the flow of ideas feel disjointed. To improve, focus on using transition words like 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'therefore' to link your sentences more naturally and ensure that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite limited and repetitive. There are several instances of incorrect word choice, such as 'loud voice restricted' instead of 'loud music' and 'implement the result' which does not convey the intended meaning. The phrasing is often unnatural, which occasionally impedes the reader's understanding. To reach a higher band, you should work on using more precise collocations and a wider range of vocabulary related to the topic of noise complaints and academic pressure, rather than relying on basic, incorrectly applied terms.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including subject-verb agreement issues ('I writing', 'I want to requested'), incorrect verb tenses, and missing articles. The sentence structures are mostly simple, and attempts at more complex sentences often result in errors, such as 'It can be disturb me'. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with the use of commas and capitalization. To improve, you must focus on basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that your verbs are correctly conjugated and that your sentences follow standard English word order.
