Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely impacts the task achievement. Because the letter is incomplete and cuts off mid-sentence, you have failed to address the final bullet point regarding the action you would like the neighbours to take. While you identified the problem and explained the difficulty, the lack of development and the failure to complete the task mean that the requirements are only partially addressed. To improve, you must ensure you provide a full response that covers all three bullet points in detail and meets the minimum word count.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0

The response shows some basic attempts at organization, such as using 'To begin with' and 'Moreover' to structure the ideas. However, because the text is incomplete and ends abruptly, the overall progression is interrupted. The paragraphing is also not fully established due to the limited length. To achieve a higher score, you need to ensure that your ideas are fully developed and that the letter follows a logical flow from the introduction to the conclusion, using a wider range of cohesive devices to link your sentences and paragraphs effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary used is functional but limited. You have used some appropriate terms like 'express my concern' and 'significantly affecting', but there are errors such as 'noice' (spelling) and 'request for an appropriate action' (awkward phrasing). The range is insufficient to demonstrate a higher level of lexical control. To improve, focus on using more precise vocabulary related to the context of a formal complaint and ensure that your spelling is accurate. Expanding your range of collocations will also help you express your ideas more naturally.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The grammar is generally understandable, but the range of structures is very limited. There is a minor error in the opening: 'I hope this email finds you' is incomplete; it should be 'I hope this email finds you well'. The sentence structures are simple, and the abrupt ending prevents the use of more complex grammatical forms. To improve, aim to incorporate a variety of sentence structures, including complex sentences with subordinate clauses, and pay closer attention to standard formal expressions to ensure accuracy.
