Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0
The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 150 words, reaching only 90 words. While you have addressed the three bullet points—explaining the problem, the impact on your studies/sleep, and the requested action—the ideas are severely underdeveloped. The explanation of why the music causes difficulties is brief and lacks detail, and the request for action is very abrupt. To improve, you must expand on your points by providing more context and detail to meet the length requirement and demonstrate a fuller development of your ideas.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.0
The letter is organized into short paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is very limited and sometimes mechanical or misused, such as 'At least' to introduce a request, which is not appropriate in this context. The progression of ideas is somewhat disjointed due to the brevity of the sentences. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and phrases to connect your sentences and ideas more naturally, ensuring that each paragraph flows logically into the next.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.0
The vocabulary is quite basic and repetitive. There are noticeable errors in word choice, such as 'boardingness' (which is not a standard English word) and the misuse of 'effect' instead of the verb 'affect'. The range of vocabulary is limited, which restricts your ability to express your situation clearly and professionally. To improve, focus on learning collocations and more precise vocabulary related to formal letter writing and expressing personal difficulties. Avoid repeating the same words and try to use more descriptive language to convey your message.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The response relies on simple sentence structures. There are frequent grammatical errors, including subject-verb agreement issues (e.g., 'your music... which effect my study') and punctuation errors. The lack of complex sentence structures limits your ability to demonstrate grammatical range. To improve, practice using a mix of simple and complex sentences, and pay closer attention to verb forms and basic sentence construction. Proofreading your work for common errors like subject-verb agreement and word forms will significantly improve the accuracy of your writing.
