Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response addresses all three bullet points: explaining the problem, the impact on your studies, and the requested action. However, the response is significantly under the 150-word minimum requirement, which severely limits the development of your ideas. To improve, you should expand on the details, such as describing the specific type of music or the exact times it occurs, and provide a more polite, formal closing. Because the response is 37 words short, the task is only partially addressed in terms of length and depth of development.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The letter is short and lacks clear paragraphing, which is essential for a formal letter. While the ideas follow a logical sequence, the transition between sentences is somewhat mechanical. For example, the repeated use of 'due to which' and 'also' makes the flow feel repetitive. To improve, use a wider variety of cohesive devices such as 'consequently', 'furthermore', or 'in addition' to link your ideas more naturally. Organizing the letter into distinct paragraphs—one for the introduction, one for the problem, and one for the solution—would significantly improve the structure.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is basic and repetitive, relying on simple phrases like 'very loud' and 'have a problem'. There is limited evidence of less common lexical items or collocations appropriate for a formal complaint. For instance, instead of 'play your music', you could use 'disturbing the peace' or 'excessive noise levels'. The tone is also slightly inconsistent; while you attempt a formal opening, the phrasing 'I am your neighbour' is unnatural. Expanding your vocabulary to include more precise, formal expressions will help you achieve a higher band score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text, including issues with subject-verb agreement ('you playing your music' instead of 'you are playing') and article usage ('I have a problem' vs 'I am writing to report a problem'). Sentence structures are mostly simple, with limited attempts at complex sentences. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with capitalization (e.g., 'i' instead of 'I'). To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like missing auxiliary verbs and capitalization before submitting your work.
