Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0
The letter addresses all three bullet points: explaining the problem, the impact on your studies, and the desired action. However, the response is incomplete as it cuts off mid-sentence at the end, and it fails to meet the 150-word minimum requirement. This under-length significantly impacts the development of your ideas. While the purpose of the letter is clear, the tone becomes overly aggressive and inappropriate for a letter to a neighbour, particularly the threat of 'legal action' in the second paragraph. To improve, ensure you complete your thoughts, meet the word count, and maintain a polite, constructive tone throughout.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The letter is organised into short paragraphs, but the flow is hindered by the abrupt ending. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Actually' and 'If you will not', but they are somewhat mechanical. The progression of ideas is logical, moving from the introduction to the problem and then the request, but the lack of a proper closing and the incomplete final sentence disrupt the overall coherence of the piece. To improve, use a wider variety of linking words and ensure that each paragraph transitions smoothly into the next, leading to a complete and polite conclusion.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the range and precision expected at higher bands. Phrases like 'so much noise' and 'very disappointing' are quite basic. There are also issues with word choice and collocation, such as 'who lived in next to your door' (should be 'who lives next door') and 'you are enough mature people' (should be 'you are mature enough'). The vocabulary is sufficient to convey the message, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility or sophistication required for a higher score. Focus on learning more natural collocations and formal expressions.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
There are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'my name is Priya who lived in next to your door' (tense and preposition error), 'since from couple of days' (incorrect preposition and article usage), and 'distracted me for my study time' (incorrect verb form). While you attempt some complex structures, they are often inaccurate. Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with spacing around commas and periods. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction, subject-verb agreement, and correct tense usage before attempting more complex grammatical structures.
