Student answer (Band 6.5)
Dear Mr. Well,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing this letter to let you know about the noise that has been coming from flat next door. Recently, I have been experience some loud noise coming from Mr. House flat since he moved in.
In my knowledge I think he does not know about the rules and regulation of loud noise or playing music after 10 pm. This, has affected my daily life routine. I have been studying from last 2 month to crack my entrance exam due to the noise I am not able to concentrate enough. My sleep is also affected from this as it is disturbing my morning routine.
I hope you would ask them to turn the music down or let them know the rules and regulation of this place. And I would also like you to gentel remind him of the noise level that has to be maintain at night.
I hope you would understand this situation take prompt action against this. And I will be waiting for reply.
Yours Sincerely,
Akay

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all three bullet points of the task: explaining the problem, describing the impact on your studies and sleep, and requesting specific action. The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a landlord or building manager. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, while you mention the impact on your studies, expanding slightly on the specific nature of the exam or the frequency of the noise would have provided a more fully developed response. The purpose of the letter is clear throughout, and the reader understands exactly what is required of them.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized into clear paragraphs, each serving a distinct purpose. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'In my knowledge' and 'I hope', which help the flow of the text. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and there are instances where the connection between sentences could be smoother. For example, the transition between the problem description and the request for action is functional but could be improved with more sophisticated linking words. Overall, the paragraphing is appropriate, and the progression of ideas is easy to follow.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to convey your message clearly. You use some relevant phrases like 'daily life routine' and 'prompt action'. However, there are several instances of awkward phrasing or incorrect word choices, such as 'experience some loud noise' (should be 'experiencing') and 'gentel remind' (should be 'gentle reminder'). Additionally, the phrase 'In my knowledge' is not the most natural way to introduce your point. To reach a higher band, you should focus on more precise collocations and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is consistently clear, there are frequent grammatical errors that detract from the overall quality. Examples include 'I have been studying from last 2 month' (should be 'for the last two months'), 'due to the noise I am not able' (missing a comma), and 'noise level that has to be maintain' (should be 'maintained'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your request. Increasing your control over verb tenses and subject-verb agreement will significantly improve your score in this criterion.
