Student answer (Band 6.0)
Dear Raman,
I am writing this letter to express my annoyance with you late night music which is disturbing my studies and sleep.
Unfortunately, I need to raise an issue regarding the loud music played at your house late night from few days. It was continuing to play at midnight which severely disturbing my routine.
As the music plays till midnight that make me difficult to focus on my studies this situation is particularly challenging for me because at the moment my university exams were held in few days. I am feeling quite exhausted because the ongoing noise is disrupting my sleep, leaving me exhausted and unable to focus during the day.
I am truly grateful if you could ensure that the volume is kept at a low level, particularly after 10pm. Alternatively, you could use headphones if you want to listen to music. I hope you understand the situation.
Thank you for your cooperation. I am looking forward to having a great relationship with you.
Best wishes,
Surpreet

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The letter successfully addresses all three bullet points of the task. You clearly explain the problem (loud music), the impact on your studies and sleep, and provide a reasonable request for action (lowering volume or using headphones). The tone is appropriate for a formal letter to a neighbour. The ideas are well-developed and the purpose of the letter is clear from the beginning. To reach a higher band, ensure that the connection between the problem and the consequence is articulated with more grammatical precision, as some phrasing is slightly repetitive.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The letter is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a polite closing. Each paragraph focuses on a specific aspect of the prompt. You use some cohesive devices such as 'Unfortunately', 'As', and 'Alternatively' to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally interrupted by minor grammatical errors that make some sentences feel slightly disjointed. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the problem from the proposed solution, which helps the reader follow your argument easily.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using phrases like 'express my annoyance', 'disrupting my routine', and 'cooperation'. There are some minor inaccuracies in word choice, such as 'from few days' (should be 'for a few days') and 'it was continuing to play' (should be 'it continues to play'). While the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning clearly, it lacks the sophistication and precision required for higher bands. Expanding your use of collocations would improve the natural flow of your writing.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent errors in verb tense and subject-verb agreement. For example, 'my university exams were held in few days' should be 'are being held in a few days', and 'that make me difficult' should be 'makes it difficult for me'. These errors are noticeable and occur throughout the text, though they do not prevent the reader from understanding your message. To improve, focus on consistent tense usage and the correct structure of 'it + adjective + to + verb' constructions.
