Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

For this criterion, you successfully cover the main points of the prompt, explaining that your new neighbours are playing loud music late at night, describing how this causes difficulties with your upcoming examinations and sleep, and stating what action you would like them to take. However, the ideas remain somewhat limited and under-developed, lacking the specific detail and extended elaboration expected at higher levels. Furthermore, the response falls short of the minimum length requirement of 150 words, containing only 126 words, which restricts your ability to fully develop your response and explain the situation thoroughly.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

Regarding coherence and cohesion, your writing shows some basic organization, but there is a lack of clear overall progression and appropriate paragraphing. While you attempt to separate your thoughts, the layout and paragraph breaks are somewhat disjointed and do not guide the reader smoothly from one point to the next. Cohesive devices are minimal and sometimes inaccurate, leading to a mechanical feel. For instance, transitioning between sentences often relies on repetitive structures rather than varied linking words, making the overall arrangement less cohesive than required for higher bands.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

Your lexical resource is limited and minimally adequate for the task. You use basic vocabulary such as 'problem', 'music', and 'angry', and there are noticeable errors in word choice, spelling, and word forms. For example, phrases like 'thr problem i have recently faceing' and 'higher authorties' demonstrate spelling and morphological inaccuracies. While your meaning can generally be understood, these frequent errors in vocabulary choice and word form cause some difficulty for the reader and prevent you from accessing a wider lexical range.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

In terms of grammatical range and accuracy, you display a limited range of structures, relying mostly on simple sentences joined by basic conjunctions. Your attempts at more complex sentences are often faulty, as seen in structures like 'my neighoubrs always play music on high volume that make me angry and moreover distracted me'. There are frequent errors in verb tenses, subject-verb agreement, and punctuation, such as missing capital letters and full stops. These recurring errors can cause difficulty and require the reader to slow down to comprehend your intended meaning.
