Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5
You have successfully addressed all parts of the bullet points by explaining the problem of loud music, describing how it affects your sleep and upcoming examinations, and requesting that they keep the volume low or stop for two weeks. Your purpose is clear throughout the letter. To reach a higher level, the ideas could be more fully and seamlessly extended, as some points currently feel slightly repetitive or under-developed, such as the general mention of facing challenges without deeper elaboration. However, you have clearly presented a relevant position and covered the core requirements of the task.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
Your letter has a coherent overall arrangement with a clear opening salutation and logical paragraphing that separates your introduction, the explanation of problems, your request, and your closing remarks. You use some cohesive devices and transition words like 'Secondly', 'Therefore', and 'Moreover' to guide the reader. However, the progression of ideas is occasionally mechanical, and some referencing is a bit unclear, such as the abrupt transition in the final paragraphs. To improve, you should ensure that your sentences flow more naturally into one another using smoother linking devices rather than relying on basic connectors.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, successfully communicating your message about examinations and sleep disturbance with phrases like 'morning person' and 'sleepless nights'. However, there are noticeable errors in word choice, collocation, and phrasing throughout your response, such as 'complain some issue' instead of 'complain about an issue', and 'memorize the thing' instead of 'memorize things'. You also make errors in word forms, such as 'stops to play' instead of 'stop playing'. These limitations and occasional awkward collocations place your vocabulary in the adequate range, meaning your errors do not seriously impede communication but are still apparent.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
You demonstrate a mix of simple and some complex sentence forms, attempting structures such as 'Because of the loud music you play at night, I am not able to sleep...' However, your writing contains frequent errors in grammar and punctuation, including tense issues like 'examination will be started' instead of 'examinations start', and preposition errors like 'sleep from you have been shifted there'. There are also issues with subject-verb agreement and article usage. While these errors rarely completely block your meaning, they are frequent enough to cause some difficulty for the reader and reflect a limited range of well-controlled complex structures.
