Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.5

The letter addresses all three points: it identifies loud music at night, explains that it disrupts your studies and your children’s sleep, and requests that the neighbour practise during the day. The suggested hours, “from 9 am till 7pm,” make the request concrete, and acknowledging that music is part of the neighbour’s job helps keep the tone considerate. This covers the task well, while some ideas are less fully developed: for example, the effect on your exam preparation is mentioned but not explained in detail. The opening “Dear Sir” and closing “yours sincerely” are also less suitable for a neighbour whose name is unknown; “Dear Neighbour” and “Yours faithfully” would be more appropriate. More precise development and letter conventions would strengthen the response further.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

The information is generally arranged in a sensible order: you introduce the complaint, describe its effects, and then make a request. This gives the reader a clear overall understanding. However, the response is presented as one continuous block, so the shift from explaining the problem to proposing a solution is not clearly signposted. Some links are awkward or repetitive, such as “At night” appearing more than once and “meanwhile” joining effects that are better expressed as a straightforward list. The final request also repeats the earlier suggestion about daytime practice. Use separate paragraphs for the complaint and its impact, followed by the requested action, and choose linking phrases that show the relationship between ideas precisely.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough topic-related vocabulary to communicate the main issue, including “noise,” “disturbance,” “studies,” “sleep,” and “calm atmosphere.” The attempt to acknowledge the neighbour’s “profession” also helps establish a polite tone. However, the range is limited and several word choices or collocations are inaccurate, which sometimes makes the message less natural: “complain you about the noise,” “music sound,” and “others life” are examples. Spelling errors such as “writting” and “proffesion” are noticeable, and phrases such as “get effect” are unclear. Build a small set of accurate expressions for complaints and impacts, and check spelling and word forms before submitting.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

The letter includes both simple statements and attempts to connect ideas, for example, “I know singing and music is a part of your job but it is affecting others life.” The main message remains understandable, but control is inconsistent: errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence boundaries recur. For instance, “This result in disturbance” needs a correctly formed verb, while “your music sound is very loud which disturb my studies” has agreement problems. Several sentences run together without appropriate punctuation, and the opening has spacing and punctuation issues. Practise accurate present-tense forms and subject–verb agreement, then divide longer sentences into clear clauses. Greater accuracy in these patterns would make the request easier to follow.
