Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
The letter addresses all three points: it identifies late, loud music as the problem, explains that it interrupts studying and affects sleep, and asks the neighbours to lower the volume or use a party venue. The purpose is clear, and the suggestion that you do not want to spoil their celebration helps keep the request considerate. Some parts are less fully developed: the effect on sleep is mentioned only briefly, and the request for greater consideration is vague compared with the specific suggestion to reduce the volume. To strengthen the response, explain more precisely how the noise affects your preparation and make the requested quiet hours or action explicit.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 6.0
The letter has a recognisable structure, moving from an opening, to the problem and its effects, and then to a request and sign-off. This overall arrangement makes the purpose understandable. However, cohesion is sometimes mechanical or unclear: several sentences repeat that the music interrupts or distracts you from studying, and connectors such as “additionally” do not create a strong progression between ideas. The long paragraph about studying also combines repeated points with the separate issue of sleep. Group the effects into a concise paragraph and use clearer links between the problem, its consequences, and your proposed solution. This would make the progression smoother and reduce repetition.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
The vocabulary is sufficient to communicate the main situation, with relevant expressions such as “loud music,” “concentrate,” “distracted,” and “lower down your music volume.” There are also attempts to express a polite request and acknowledge the neighbours’ celebration. However, several choices and collocations are inaccurate or unnatural, including “it shuffled my mind,” “little cautions,” and “do their work efficiently.” Repetition of “studies” and “music” also limits the range. Choose more precise phrases for the effects of noise and for a considerate request, and check that words fit naturally together. This will make the letter clearer and more idiomatic.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0
The response attempts both simple and longer sentence forms, including explanations with “because” and “while,” and the main message remains understandable. However, some errors in verb forms, agreement, articles, and sentence construction reduce accuracy. Examples include “I hope you guys doing well,” “you guys was played,” and “I have a examinations”; the sentence beginning “Most importantly when I tried to concentrate I into my studies” is also difficult to follow. Review basic sentence patterns and keep longer sentences controlled: for example, use a clear subject and verb, then connect the reason or result with one conjunction. More accurate verb forms and punctuation would make the request easier to read.
