Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 6.0
You address the main parts of the task: you explain that the neighbours play loud music late at night, describe its effects on your studying and sleep, and request that they lower the volume or use headphones. The specific hours, “11 pm to 1 am,” and your upcoming IELTS exam make the situation clear. However, some points are less fully developed: the request to play music “at a10 pm” is unclear, and the sentence about them already playing quietly in the daytime does not clearly explain what change you want at night. A more precise, polite request—such as asking them to stop or reduce the music after a stated time—would make the letter’s purpose clearer and more complete.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.5
The information follows a broadly sensible order: you introduce the neighbours, explain the noise and its effects, then make a request. This gives the reader an overall sense of the situation. However, the response is presented as one continuous block, and several ideas are repeated or joined without clear links. For example, you say both that you “cannot sleep properly” and “cannot sleep well,” while the shift from the problem to “now they play music in day time” is abrupt. Use separate paragraphs for the situation, its effects, and your request, and connect ideas with clear transitions such as “As a result” and “Therefore.” This would make the progression easier to follow.
Lexical Resource: Band 5.0
You use relevant vocabulary to communicate the central problem, including “loud music,” “speakers,” “focus,” and “distract.” These choices are appropriate to the topic, but the range is limited and some word combinations or spellings make the message less clear. For instance, “the loud music create disturbance” and “devert my connceret” appear to aim at describing disruption and concentration, but the intended wording is difficult to identify. Repetition of “study” and “sleep” also limits variety. Build a small set of accurate phrases for noise and its effects, such as “disturb my concentration,” “keep me awake,” and “reduce the volume,” and check spelling before sending the letter.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt both simple statements and longer sentences, and the reader can generally understand the main message. However, some errors in sentence structure, verb forms, articles, and punctuation make parts difficult to read. For example, “New neighbours have recently moved into the flat one week ago” combines present perfect with a finished time expression; “the loud music create” has a subject–verb agreement error; and “In this 20 October i have ielts exam” is not formed as a clear sentence. Capitalisation and sentence boundaries also need attention. Practise writing short, complete sentences first, then combine related ideas using “because” or “so.” Check that each sentence has a clear subject and verb.
