Student answer (Band 7.0)
Dear Ahmad,
To introduce myself, I am Waqass, your next door neighbor. I warmly welcome you in the community and hope the relocation has gone smoothly. With this letter, I would like to being to your attention that the music volume at your house is bit high at night, which is causing me distraction while studying.
Actually, I have been preparing for my bachelor's examinations. I usually study late night because of attending university in the first half of the day, and a job in the second half. Therefore, I am just left with some quiet hours in the evening to devote to my studies.
However, since the day you have shifted in, I am experiencing loud music being played from your apartment. As we share the common wall which is not thick enough to properly function as a solid sound barrier, I get distracted during those hours and cannot conentrate on my studies.
I, therefore, request you to not play music on a loud volume so that I can give proper attention to my studies. If this loud music is being played by any of your kids, then I can arrange a good attractive headset for him/her as a symbol of courtesy.
I look forward to your understanding of this serious matter.
Yours sincerely,
Waqass

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
The letter addresses all three points clearly: it explains that loud music is played at night, describes how this disrupts study, and asks the neighbours to lower the volume. The reason for your limited study time is supported with relevant detail about university and work, while the shared wall helps explain why the noise carries. The request is polite and the offer of a headset adds a personal, considerate touch. To make the response more fully developed, specify a practical arrangement, such as keeping music low after a particular hour, and mention the effect on sleep as well as studying. The main ideas are clear and supported, though the proposed action could be more precise.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter follows a clear progression from greeting and introduction, to the noise problem, its impact, and a request. Paragraphing supports this sequence, and linking expressions such as “Therefore,” “However,” and “I, therefore” make the relationships between ideas easy to follow. The explanation of your schedule leads naturally into why evening noise is especially disruptive. Some transitions are slightly mechanical, particularly the repeated use of “therefore,” and “Actually” is not the most natural way to introduce the study details. You could improve the flow by varying these links and connecting the request more directly to a specific quiet-time arrangement. Overall, the organisation is clear and the reader can follow the letter without difficulty.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.5
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for a neighbourly complaint, including “sound barrier,” “distraction,” “devote to my studies,” and “symbol of courtesy.” These choices help explain the situation and keep the tone generally polite. There are also some inaccurate or unnatural expressions: “being to your attention” does not fit the intended meaning, “music volume … is bit high” is awkward, and “a good attractive headset” is not a natural collocation. The spelling error “conentrate” also affects accuracy. These issues do not prevent understanding, but more precise collocations and careful proofreading would make the letter sound more fluent and appropriately formal.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 6.5
The response includes a useful mix of simple and complex sentences. For example, “As we share the common wall …, I get distracted …” uses a subordinate clause to explain cause and effect, and the sentence beginning “If this loud music is being played…” shows an attempt at a conditional structure. Some grammatical errors remain, including “I would like to being” instead of “bring,” “I warmly welcome you in the community” rather than “to the community,” and “is bit high,” which needs an article. “Since the day you have shifted in” also uses an awkward tense construction. These errors rarely obscure the message, but more reliable control of verb forms, articles, and prepositions would strengthen accuracy.
