Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You identify the central problem—music played at night—and explain that it affects your studying and sleep because your examinations are approaching. You also make a clear request to reduce the volume and offer to discuss the matter, so the main task points are present. However, the explanation is brief: the letter does not say how often or how late the music continues, or describe more specifically how it disrupts your preparation and rest. The request could also be more considerate and precise, such as asking for quieter music after a particular time. The response contains 134 words, below the required 150, so there is limited space to develop these points. Add relevant detail while keeping the tone polite.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.0

The letter has a recognisable format, with a greeting, a main message, a request and a closing. The reader can follow the basic sequence from introducing yourself to explaining the issue and asking for a change. However, the ideas are crowded into one paragraph, and the opening small talk takes up space before the purpose becomes clear. Connections between ideas are sometimes awkward, particularly in “As I have public exam which is very near by next week” and the request that follows. Organise the message into short paragraphs: introduce yourself and the reason for writing, explain the impact, then make the request and close. Use linking phrases selectively so the progression feels clear rather than abrupt.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use enough everyday vocabulary to communicate the main situation, including “next door neighbour,” “public exam,” “volume,” “music,” and “studies and sleep.” The tone is generally friendly and the request is understandable. However, the range is limited, and several expressions are inaccurate or unnatural, such as “do the needful,” “one on one conversation,” and “which affects by studies.” Spelling errors including “evrything,” “hestitate,” and “id” also make the writing less polished. Choose more natural phrases for a neighbourly letter, such as “discuss this in person” and “is affecting my studies.” A few precise terms about noise and rest would help you explain the problem more effectively.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

Most of the message relies on short, simple statements, and attempts to combine ideas often produce faulty sentences. For example, “As I have public exam which is very near by next week that is on Nov 25 2026” is not a complete, well-formed sentence, while “which affects by studies and sleep” has an incorrect grammatical pattern. There are also errors in articles and verb forms, as in “I have public exam” and “Hope everyone id doing great.” Punctuation and spacing are inconsistent, especially around “Thanks for understanding.” These problems sometimes make the reader pause, although the overall meaning remains recoverable. Practise complete sentences and use a few accurate complex forms, for example: “As my exams are next week, I need a quiet environment to study and sleep.”
