Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 4.5
You identify the central problem—loud music at night—and explain that it disrupts your studying and sleep, while upcoming examinations make this especially difficult. However, the response only partially fulfils the letter task. The requested action is not clearly or reasonably stated: “I would like them to move into my house in another town” is confusing, and the later suggestion that you will move flats shifts the action away from what you want the neighbours to do. The opening, “The topic disscussess the new neighbouts,” also does not establish a suitable purpose or tone for a letter. To strengthen the response, clearly ask the neighbours to lower or stop the music after a particular time, and develop the effects on your sleep and exam preparation more precisely.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 4.0
Some relevant ideas are present, including the late-night music, your examinations, and the effect on your concentration. However, they are arranged in a largely continuous sequence rather than in clear paragraphs, so the reader has to work to follow the progression from problem to impact to request. Linking words such as “So,” “But,” and “Because” are repeated and sometimes connect ideas awkwardly; for example, “So,my studies are disturbing” does not clearly show the relationship between the noise and your studies. The shift from asking the neighbours to move to saying that you will move flats also weakens the overall direction. Organise the letter into a brief opening, a paragraph explaining the problem and its effects, and a final paragraph making one clear request.
Lexical Resource: Band 4.5
The response uses basic vocabulary relevant to the situation, including “music,” “examination,” “studies,” and “focus and concentration,” so the main topic can be recognised. However, the range is limited and several inaccurate word choices or collocations make parts difficult to understand. “Higher sound” is not a natural way to describe loud music, while “a loud of children” and “I’m very frustating” do not convey the intended meanings clearly. Spelling errors such as “disscussess,” “neighbouts,” “universty,” and “apartement” also reduce accuracy. Build a small set of precise phrases for this letter, such as “play music at a high volume,” “disturb my sleep,” and “lower the volume after 10 p.m.”
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 4.5
You attempt to connect ideas using clauses and reasons, for example, “when im studying” and “due to more sound of music.” However, sentence structures are mostly simple or joined with “because” and “so,” and frequent errors affect clarity. Examples include “my examination are coming” (subject–verb agreement), “Many people wake up … and plays” (agreement within a compound subject), and “my studies are disturbing,” where the intended passive form is unclear. Capitalisation and punctuation are also inconsistent, particularly where a comma is followed by “Because” or “So” and a new sentence would be clearer. Practise accurate present and future forms, agreement, and complete sentence boundaries before adding more complex clauses.
