Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.5
The letter addresses all three points: it identifies late-night music as the problem, explains its effects on exam preparation and sleep, and asks the neighbours to change their behaviour. The request to use headphones at night is particularly clear, and the explanation that you work during the day helps show why quiet evenings matter. The tone is courteous and appropriate for writing to new neighbours. To make the response more fully developed, state the specific hours when the music is disturbing you and make the requested arrangement more direct and practical. The suggestion that they play music during the day is understandable, but could be framed as a preference rather than an instruction, since daytime may not suit them.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The information follows a clear progression: you introduce the issue, explain its impact on study and health, and then make requests before closing politely. Paragraphing supports this structure, and connectors such as “Firstly,” “However,” “Furthermore,” and “Consequently” help signal relationships between ideas. Some linking is slightly mechanical, and the second and third paragraphs repeat the effect of the music on concentration and preparation. A few transitions could also be more precise; for example, “Although I attended all classes” does not clearly connect to the point that revision is essential. Use fewer formulaic connectors and make each paragraph add a distinct point to improve the flow.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the situation, including “final examination,” “concentrate,” “sleeping cycle,” and “co-operate.” These choices communicate the problem and maintain a polite tone. There are also attempts at more formal phrasing, such as “owing to this issue,” though some expressions are inaccurate or unnatural: “achieving desire scores,” “during late night,” and “certain level of volume.” Spelling errors in “distrub,” “lesuire,” and “appriciate” also reduce accuracy. Aim for natural collocations and check spelling carefully; for example, “achieve my desired results,” “late at night,” and “keep the volume at a reasonable level” would express your meaning more idiomatically.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
The letter includes both simple and more complex sentence forms, including the contrast in “Although I attended all classes” and the cause-and-effect sentence beginning “Consequently.” Meaning is generally clear, but some grammatical errors remain. For example, “your late night loud music affecting me” needs a finite verb (“is affecting”), while “Not only it distract … but also causing” has faulty parallel structure. Other examples include “my sleeping cycle get” and “I will let you know once I will done,” which show problems with agreement and verb forms. Practise building parallel clauses and checking tense and agreement in longer sentences. More accurate control of these structures would make the letter smoother and easier to read.
