Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 7.0
You address all three points clearly: the late-night music is identified as the problem, you explain its effects on studying and sleep, and you request that your neighbour lower the volume or stop playing music late at night. The explanation that tiredness and stress may affect your academic performance gives the complaint a relevant consequence, while offering to explain your situation politely makes the requested action constructive. The ideas are extended enough to make your purpose clear, although the request could be more specific—for example, asking them to keep the volume low after a particular time. Overall, the response maintains a clear purpose and supports its main points, with some room to develop the practical request further.
Coherence and Cohesion: Band 7.0
The letter follows a clear progression: it introduces the noise problem, explains its impact, and then states what you would like your neighbour to do. Paragraphing helps distinguish these stages, and linking expressions such as “Furthermore” and “because” make relationships between ideas clear. The sequence from poor sleep to feeling tired and stressed is also easy to follow. To make the organisation more polished, use paragraph breaks consistently and avoid relying on ellipses to connect or finish ideas. Some links, such as “Furthermore,” are slightly mechanical; a more direct transition into the request would sound more natural. Overall, the reader can follow the message without difficulty.
Lexical Resource: Band 6.0
You use an adequate range of vocabulary for the situation, including “concentrate,” “academic performance,” “cooperation,” and “respect,” which communicate the problem and your request effectively. There are also attempts at more expressive language, such as “keeps your sanity in check,” though this is rather informal for a neighbour’s letter. Some word choices and collocations are inaccurate or awkward: “causes noise,” “the music echo so loud,” and “would like my neighbor to actions” do not sound natural. Choose precise phrases such as “creates a disturbance,” “the music echoes loudly,” and “would like my neighbour to reduce the volume.” These issues do not prevent understanding, but more natural collocations would improve control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.5
You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentences, including a relative clause in “music late at night, which causes…” and a participle clause in “making me feel tired and stressed.” These structures help explain the effects of the noise. However, some grammatical errors remain, including subject–verb agreement in “The music echo,” the incomplete construction “I would like my neighbor to actions,” and missing or inconsistent sentence boundaries and capitalisation. For example, “i would also appreciate” should begin with a capital letter, and several full stops are doubled or replaced by ellipses. Check agreement, sentence structure, and punctuation carefully; clearer sentence boundaries would make your meaning more controlled.
