New neighbours have recently moved into the house/flat next door to where you live. You have examinations soon, but your neighbours play music late at night which is affecting your studies and sleep.

Student answer (Band 5.5)

neighbours are good companions but if they are good in nature ,well just a few days ago they shifted but plays music very loudely that had bad impact on my examination and sleep .

well the main issue is that they play sounds very loudly even the echo comes into my room where i am trying to focus on my studies as i am preparing for my exams also the things that bother me most i can not concentrate properly , it gives me stress and anxiety also i am feeling the pressure of my remaning slybous , or also i can not even take a nap for making myself relax ,as they shift recently so i will decide to go to them to request them by telling them the situation that they should lower the sound and understand the situation .

It is very important to everyone that they must know the moral ethiccs or basic manners living in a society as good nabours are blessing .

Task Achievement / Task Response: Band 5.5

You address the main situation by explaining that loud music disrupts your studying and sleep, and you state a reasonable action: you plan to speak to the neighbours and ask them to lower the volume. These points are relevant, but the response only partly develops the task. The effect on your studies is clearer than the examination context: “pressure of my remaning slybous” is difficult to interpret, and you do not explain when the music is played or how often it happens. The request is also brief and indirect. To make the response more complete, clearly describe the timing and impact, then state a specific request, such as keeping the music low after a certain hour, while maintaining a polite letter-style tone.

Coherence and Cohesion: Band 5.5

There is a basic progression from introducing the neighbours and problem, to describing its effects, and then proposing that you speak to them. This helps the reader follow the general message. However, most of the response is presented as one long paragraph, and the ideas within it run together. Connectors such as “well,” “also,” and “or also” are repeated or used awkwardly, so relationships between points are not always clear. For example, the sentence beginning “well the main issue” moves from the noise to stress, syllabus pressure, sleep, and your planned action without clear breaks. Use separate paragraphs for the problem and its effects, followed by your request, and use a small number of accurate linking phrases.

Lexical Resource: Band 5.0

You use some relevant vocabulary to communicate the situation, including “focus on my studies,” “stress and anxiety,” and “lower the sound.” However, the range is limited and several word choices, collocations, and spellings make parts difficult to understand. “The echo comes into my room” is not a natural way to describe noise entering the room, while “moral ethiccs” and “remaning slybous” are unclear. “Good companions” and “good in nature” also do not fit naturally when describing neighbours in this context. Aim for precise, conventional expressions such as “the music carries into my room,” “remaining syllabus,” and “considerate neighbours.” Proofreading spelling and choosing natural collocations would make your meaning more reliable.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy: Band 5.0

You attempt to combine ideas using clauses, for example when explaining that the noise affects your concentration and sleep, but sentence control is inconsistent. The opening has a faulty contrast and verb pattern: “if they are good in nature … they shifted but plays music.” Later, the long sentence beginning “well the main issue” contains several clauses joined without clear punctuation, making the relationships hard to follow. There are also errors in tense and agreement, as in “they shift recently” and “they play sounds,” and sentence boundaries are often missing. Practise writing shorter, complete sentences first, then combine them with accurate conjunctions. Check that subjects and verbs agree and that past and present forms are used consistently.
