Student answer (Band 7.0)
It is argued that animals are no longer required to be kept in zoos, so zoos should be closed. I partially agree with this viewpoint, although this can allow animals to live freely in an open space, it would be difficult to prevent extinction of certain animals.
To begin with, there are several compelling reasons why animals are not required to be kept in zoos. One most significant reason for this phenomena is that many governments are trying to increase green spaces which could be the best place for animals to live. For urban development, humans have significantly damaged natural resources including dense forests, resulting in rising global climate concern and loss of habitants for wild animals. However, many countries got aware of such global issue and understands without immediate and coordinated action, the negative impacts of environmental degradation are likely to get intensify and becoming increasingly difficult to reverse.
As a result, stricter regulation on deforestation have considerably increased the number of forests which can act as a best place for animals to enjoy green and larger space to live in.
However, there are some animals who might experience extinction in the near future. For this reason zoos are important to provide special treatment for such animals to maintain their existence and introduce these species to reproduction in order to increase their number. In addition, zoo offers a safe environment for researcher to conduct deep research on these animals, helping them to analyze globe history by examining the evolution of living species and their link with humans.
In conclusion, Although we have immense number of forests where we can release all these zoo animals, I partially agree with the statement that zoos should be closed because zoos can act a safe place for veterans and enable scientists to enhance reproduction of animals been in danger in the future.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. You have provided relevant arguments for both sides of the issue, discussing the potential for rewilding and the role of zoos in conservation. The ideas are generally well-developed, although the link between urban green spaces and the closure of zoos could be more explicitly argued. You have successfully balanced the two perspectives, which demonstrates a good understanding of the task requirements. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are more specific; for instance, mentioning a particular endangered species or a successful conservation program would strengthen your argument significantly.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use a range of cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'However', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader through your arguments. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate distinct ideas. However, there are some minor issues with referencing and flow; for example, the transition between the discussion of green spaces and the conclusion could be smoother. Additionally, some sentences are slightly repetitive in their structure. Overall, the progression of ideas is clear, and the paragraphing is effective.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'environmental degradation', 'extinction', and 'evolution'. There are some instances of slightly unnatural word choices, such as 'veterans' (likely meaning 'veterinarians') and 'globe history' (likely meaning 'global history'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do highlight a need for more precise collocation. You attempt to use less common vocabulary, which is a positive step, but you should focus on ensuring these words are used in the correct context to improve precision and style.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully use complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, such as 'many countries got aware of such global issue' (should be 'became aware of such global issues') and 'negative impacts... are likely to get intensify' (should be 'are likely to intensify'). Subject-verb agreement and preposition usage also show occasional lapses. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the text. To improve, focus on proofreading for verb forms and ensuring that complex structures are grammatically sound.
