Student answer (Band 7.0)
In today's globalised world, some people tend to believe that there is no need to keep animals in zoos and therefore wildlife parks should be permanently closed. However, I completely disagree with the given notion because it will not only disturb the normal functionings of a real world but also pose a direct threat to their life and reasons to support my opinion will be discussed further.
To begin with, the underlying reason behind the divergence of views with the given argument is the interference they will bring to a human life. Due to the closure of zoological parks, the animals will interfere with human space to survive in terms of searching food and this issue will bring major problems for humans to not become their prey while they travel to their work or home. For instance, in a Hollywood movie named Jurassic Park is showed that how animals start hunting humans when there is no special places left for them to be kept. Therefore, it is not a constructive trend to close all zoos in a country to give animals a full freedom.
Moving further, the another reason behind my disagreement with the given notion is that this trend will also increase illegal hunting or poaching of rare species of animals in the world. If this rule comes into the effect, then hunters will start hunting animals at a mass level to just get financial freedom and this mass killing of animals can bring some species at the brink of extinction. Hence, this argument should not be come into effect because it can disturb the food chain.
In conclusion, although keeping animals in zoos takes their freedom away, it is important for their overall well-being because complete closure of wildlife parks can not only be life-threatening for them but also they can face problems related to food and shelter in order to survive.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
You have clearly stated your position and maintained it throughout the essay. You address the prompt by providing two main arguments: the potential danger to humans and the risk of poaching. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat limited. Using a fictional movie like 'Jurassic Park' as a primary example is not ideal for an academic essay; it would be more effective to use real-world examples of wildlife management or conservation efforts. While your arguments are relevant, they could be expanded with more specific, real-world evidence to reach a higher band score. You have addressed all parts of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moving further', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, some transitions feel a bit mechanical, and the flow between sentences could be smoother. For instance, the link between the idea of animals entering human space and the example provided is slightly abrupt. Paragraphing is used appropriately, and each paragraph has a clear central topic, which helps the reader follow your line of reasoning throughout the response.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, including terms like 'globalised', 'divergence', 'poaching', and 'extinction'. You attempt to use less common vocabulary, though there are some minor inaccuracies in collocation and word choice, such as 'normal functionings of a real world' or 'give animals a full freedom'. These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your expression. To improve, focus on using collocations more naturally and avoiding repetitive phrasing. Overall, the vocabulary is sufficient to convey your ideas clearly.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.5
You use a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you successfully convey your meaning, there are several grammatical errors, such as 'the another reason', 'is showed that how', and 'should not be come into effect'. These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your argument. You have a good grasp of basic sentence construction, but you need to pay closer attention to verb forms and article usage to improve your accuracy. Increasing the variety of complex structures while ensuring they are error-free would help elevate your score.
