Student answer (Band 5.5)

I am disagreeing with this statement because zoos are very important its a tourist place and also we can have a chance to see the animals very near and understand about them better. For example, if we have no zoos we are not getting chance to see animals. We are just studying about it in schools, universities we are not unserstand anything better if we do not know about it see it. We could know better if we saw them one by one and read history about them at a time. Another reason is animals are safe at the zoos, it will receive proper care at there and also get food properly on time. So, it is better that if zoos should not closed. It is a kind of animals house. If we close it we are loosing the chance for animals to be proper cared and getting food. I also visited a zoo one time its very beautiful and i saw that every animals leaving in a very good condition and taking rest without any fear. They are doing anything there whatever they want. I enjoyed a lot on that day. If zoos were not there i was never get a chance to saw animals which i even do'nt know about them. I had know lots of new things about them, like how they are leaving, their age limit, what they eat, what they do. I spent lot of time there i enjoyed a lot with the animals on that day.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against closing zoos. However, the development of ideas is limited and repetitive. While you mention education and animal welfare, these points are not explored in depth. The arguments rely heavily on personal experience rather than broader societal or scientific perspectives, which limits the sophistication of the response. To improve, you should aim to expand on your points with more detailed reasoning or hypothetical scenarios, ensuring that each paragraph contributes a distinct, well-supported argument rather than restating the same basic ideas.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay lacks a clear paragraph structure, as it is presented as a single block of text. This makes it difficult for the reader to follow the progression of your arguments. While there is a basic attempt to link ideas using words like 'another reason' and 'so', the overall flow is hindered by the lack of logical paragraph breaks. To reach a higher band, you must organize your response into distinct paragraphs: an introduction, body paragraphs for each main point, and a conclusion. Improving the use of cohesive devices beyond simple conjunctions will also help the text flow more naturally.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is basic and repetitive, often relying on simple phrasing such as 'enjoyed a lot' and 'very beautiful'. There are several instances of word-choice errors, such as 'animals house' instead of 'sanctuary' or 'habitat', and 'loosing' instead of 'losing'. While your meaning is generally clear, the range of vocabulary is limited and lacks the precision required for higher bands. To improve, focus on learning topic-specific collocations related to wildlife and conservation, and try to avoid repeating the same adjectives and verbs throughout the essay.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains frequent grammatical errors, particularly with verb tense consistency ('I am disagreeing', 'I was never get a chance'), subject-verb agreement ('every animals leaving'), and sentence structure. Many sentences are run-on or fragmented, which affects the clarity of your message. While you attempt to use some complex structures, they are often inaccurate. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, specifically ensuring that your subjects and verbs agree and that your verb tenses are used correctly and consistently throughout the text.
