Student answer (Band 6.5)
There is debate ongoing that the animals should not be kept in Zoos so it should be closed. I disagree with the statement as the zoos contributes a lot to economy. In further paragraphs I will discuss in detail about the same.
To initiate, Zoos are the main attraction for tourists and it helps generating a great revenue thus contributing to growth of economy. For example, ticket price for zoos costs around 50 CAD and so many people visit zoos so they generate a great income even after expenses they gets a good income. Moreover it creates employment opportunities thus helping society to earn their livelihood and contributes a fair part o economic growth of the country.
Further individuals gets to explore the animals and gets to know how they looks like in real life and make them excited and curious to see them in real life and even some beasts that are rare are also visible. Further the species that are about to extinct are also visible making people more excited to watch such as Amur leopard, Sunda Island Tiger and much more. Additionally, animals gets the food and shelter there so they do not need to go here and there in search of food and they are safe as well.
In summary, Zoos should not be closed as they contributes a lot to economy and helps creating employment opportunities. Further it helps individuals to explore the different creatures in real even the ones that are rare to see or are about to extinct.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against closing zoos. However, the development of ideas is somewhat superficial. While you mention economic benefits and educational value, the arguments lack depth and specific evidence. For instance, the point about ticket prices is a good start, but it is not fully extended to explain the broader economic impact. The discussion on animal welfare is also quite brief and could be better supported with more nuanced arguments regarding conservation efforts. To improve, ensure that each main idea is supported by a clear explanation and a more detailed example to fully develop your position.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is organised into logical paragraphs, each with a clear focus. You use some cohesive devices such as 'To initiate', 'Moreover', and 'In summary' to link your ideas. However, some of these transitions feel a bit mechanical or unnatural. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is generally clear, but the flow could be improved by using a wider variety of linking words and ensuring that referencing (e.g., 'the same', 'such as') is used more precisely. Overall, the structure is sufficient to follow your argument, but more sophisticated cohesive links would enhance the readability.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.5
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'revenue', 'employment opportunities', and 'extinct'. However, there are several instances of imprecise word choice and minor errors, such as 'how they looks like' (should be 'what they look like') and 'about to extinct' (should be 'about to become extinct'). The vocabulary is generally functional but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band score. To improve, focus on learning collocations and using more sophisticated synonyms to avoid repetitive phrasing like 'real life' and 'visible'.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the meaning is generally clear, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'zoos contributes', 'animals gets', 'they gets') and article usage. Some sentences are slightly awkward in their construction, such as 'There is debate ongoing that the animals should not be kept in Zoos so it should be closed.' Improving your control over basic grammar, especially subject-verb agreement and pluralisation, will significantly improve the clarity and professional tone of your writing.
