Student answer (Band 6.0)

It is often argued that animals should be kept in zoos. Whereas freedom to live is also crucial for species. I strongly agree with this notion that the zoo is a place to educate posterity and protect them from becoming an endangered species.

One of the reasons is to kept animals in a cage is to educate learners. Animals in a protected sorrounding, making helpful for visitors to know much more about wildlife. Anyone can see their appearance, notice their daily routine, and research more on biodiversity. Although cages give them feeling of inmates, rehabilation offers a better care for them by giving not only a proper diet but also timely medical assistance if needed.

Advocates argue that putting them in a cage is threatened for some species. These units take care them properly, which feel them protected, and save these animals for future as well. In this contemprory era, zoos are surveillanced by modern cameras and a security system. Therefore, conflicts would be eliminated among animals, by giving them seperate place to live alone, protect ing them from their enemies, which can lead to no animals hunting and animals conflicts.

To conclude, the choice of giving freedom to animals can vary significantly. While some may find it protected and initiates further research on themselves.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of zoos. However, the essay is significantly under the 250-word minimum, which limits the depth of the arguments provided. While the ideas regarding education and conservation are relevant, they are not fully developed. The conclusion is also abrupt and fails to summarize the main points effectively, leaving the argument incomplete. To improve, you must expand on your supporting examples and ensure the essay meets the required length to allow for a more comprehensive discussion of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into paragraphs, but the logical flow is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and limited use of cohesive devices. While there is an attempt to use transition words like 'Although' and 'Therefore', the connections between sentences are occasionally mechanical or unclear. For instance, the transition between the benefits of rehabilitation and the security of zoos feels disjointed. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each paragraph has a clear, singular focus will help improve the overall progression of your ideas.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for a higher band score. There are several instances of awkward word choices, such as 'rehabilation' (spelling error), 'surveillanced', and 'inmates' (which is not the most appropriate term for animals). Additionally, some phrases are repetitive. To achieve a higher score, focus on using more sophisticated collocations and ensuring accurate spelling. Expanding your range of topic-specific vocabulary related to wildlife conservation would also be beneficial.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'One of the reasons is to kept animals' (incorrect verb form) and 'which feel them protected' (incorrect usage of 'feel'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors suggests a need for more careful proofreading and a stronger grasp of verb tenses and sentence construction.
