Student answer (Band 6.5)

It is often argued that animals should be kept in zoos. Whereas freedom to live is also crucial for species. I strongly agree with this notion that the zoo is a place to educate posterity and protect them from becoming an endangered species.

One of the reasons is to kept animals in a cage is to educate learners. Animals in a protected sorrounding, making helpful for visitors to know much more about the wildlife. Anyone can see their appreance, also notice their daily routine, and research more on biodiversity. Although cages give them feeling of inmates, rehabilitation offers a better care for them by giving not only a proper diet but also timely medical assistance if needed. For example, certified physicians help them during a breending period, which most likely unattainable in forests.

Advocates argue that putting them in a cage is threatened for some species. These units take care them properly, which feel them protected, and save these animals for future as well. In this contemprory era, zoos are surveillanced by modern cameras and a security system. Therefore, conflicts would be eliminated among animals, by giving them seperate place to live alone, protect ing them from their enemies, which can lead to no animals hunting and animals conflicts. For instance, The White Musk Deer are rarely find in forests, this extinction caused by massive hunting by sharp shooters.

To conclude, the choice of giving freedom to animals can vary significantly. While some may find it protected and initiates further research on themselves.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5

You have addressed the prompt and maintained a clear position throughout. You provided relevant reasons, such as education and conservation, to support your argument. However, the development of ideas is somewhat limited; for instance, the point about 'rehabilitation' is mentioned but not fully explained in the context of why zoos should exist. The conclusion is also quite abrupt and does not effectively summarise your main points or restate your position clearly. To improve, ensure that each body paragraph has a strong topic sentence and that your conclusion provides a cohesive summary of the arguments presented.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use some cohesive devices like 'For example', 'Therefore', and 'To conclude'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly inaccurate, such as 'Whereas freedom to live is also crucial for species' at the start, which is a sentence fragment. Additionally, some transitions between sentences feel abrupt, making the flow of ideas less smooth. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring that each sentence connects logically to the previous one will help you achieve a higher band score.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You have an adequate range of vocabulary to discuss the topic, including terms like 'biodiversity', 'rehabilitation', and 'extinction'. However, there are several instances of word-choice errors and awkward phrasing, such as 'kept animals in a cage' instead of 'keeping animals in cages', 'sorrounding' (spelling), 'appreance' (spelling), and 'breending' (spelling). Some collocations are also unnatural, such as 'feel them protected'. To improve, focus on learning the correct word forms and common collocations, and proofread your work carefully to catch spelling errors that detract from the professional tone of your writing.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Examples include 'One of the reasons is to kept animals' (incorrect verb form), 'making helpful for visitors' (missing subject), and 'The White Musk Deer are rarely find' (incorrect passive voice). These errors are noticeable and occasionally make the reader work harder to understand your intended meaning. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement, correct verb tenses, and the proper use of passive voice. Practising complex sentence construction will also help you demonstrate a wider range of grammatical control.
