Student answer (Band 6.0)

Zoos play vital role in the preservation of animals. Some individuals believe that animals should give freedom to live despite keeping them in the zoos. So there is no need of zoos to keep the animals. I totally disagree with this statement.

First of all, zoos serve the purpose of education related to animals to the public. When people visit to zoos they get about animals life and their habitats such as characteristics, food, nature. Which is extremely challenging to get all this information through books and Tv shows related animals such as animal planet and Discovery. which is exceptionally mesmerized experience when they see the animals in reality. They can get indepth knowledge through tour guide. which cannot be obtained through other sources regarding animals. Therefore, zoos has a greatest source of education especially for young children.

Moreover, zoos are a significant source of entertainment. People who really enjoy to exploring nature creations and love to spend time with animals. Zoos would be a good option for them rather than visit to their natural habitats which may be dangerous sometime due to hunting and threating nature of animals. Which discourage the people to visit in the jungles to see the animals. Therefore, zoos have become good place for people who want to see them closely under the safety and supervision of tour guide.

Futhermore, zoos are a source of income for country. when people visit in the zoos they have to purchase the tickets to get the entry. visitors also spend the on the souvenirs of that particular place. Beside this, it provides job opportunities to the people who are working in the zoos to look after them. Consequently, zoos has a huge contribution to generate the economy for the country.

In conclusion, zoos should not be closed as it has a tremendous benefits which cannot be overlooked such as educational purpose, greatest source of entertainment and immense contribution in the economy of country.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have clearly stated your position and maintained it throughout the essay. You addressed the prompt by providing reasons for your disagreement, specifically focusing on education, entertainment, and economic benefits. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat repetitive and lacks depth. For instance, the argument regarding 'entertainment' could be more nuanced by discussing the ethical debate surrounding captivity versus conservation, rather than just focusing on safety. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are more specific and that you explore the counter-arguments with more sophistication to demonstrate a deeper understanding of the topic.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, each with a central theme. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'First of all', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' to signal transitions. However, the flow within paragraphs is sometimes hindered by sentence fragments and repetitive sentence structures. For example, starting multiple sentences with 'Which' (e.g., 'Which is extremely challenging...') creates a disjointed reading experience. To improve, focus on using a wider variety of linking words and ensure that your sentences are complete and logically connected to the preceding thought, rather than relying on mechanical transitions.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'preservation', 'habitats', 'souvenirs', and 'contribution'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'animals should give freedom' (should be 'be given freedom') and 'nature creations' (should be 'natural creations'). Additionally, the phrase 'generate the economy' is imprecise; 'boost the economy' or 'contribute to the national economy' would be more natural. While your vocabulary is sufficient to convey your meaning, you need to work on collocations and precision to move into the higher bands.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow. Common issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'zoos has a greatest source', 'zoos has a huge contribution') and the misuse of sentence fragments starting with 'Which'. There are also errors with articles and prepositions, such as 'visit to zoos' (should be 'visit zoos') and 'spend the on the souvenirs' (should be 'spend money on souvenirs'). While your meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors prevents a higher score. Focus on proofreading for basic agreement and sentence completeness.
