Student answer (Band 6.5)
In recent years, the rights for the animals has become a hot topic. It is often argued that zoos must be closed since keeping animals there is not an essential. I completely agree with this and I will explain the reasons in this essay.
There are many disadvantages for keeping animals in the zoo. To start with, it will destroy their natural capabilities. For example, a predators does not know how to hunt its preys since they are fed by humans. As a result, the abilities they posses through the evolution will be deteriorated. Furthermore, keeping animals in the zoo is equivalent to putting them in the cage. It is restricting the mobility which they gets in their natural habitat. This will eventually end up with serious health issues. Also, wildlife are kept in captivity just for fun and visitors are allowed to watch them. This will gives profit to the people who owns that particular place and share of this is not using for the conservation of those animals.
On the other hand, there are some advantages while putting the animals in the zoo. Firstly, it will conserve the animals which are categorized as endangered. For instance, Red panda which is seen in the country India. They are protected in the national zoo. Secondly, they are protected from poachers, natural disasters, resource scarcity. This results making the life of wild much easier and protected.
To conclude, even though zoos are protecting the animals from extinction, they are destroying the rights to live in natural way. In my opinion, cons outweigh the pros.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments are relevant, such as the loss of natural hunting instincts and the benefits of conservation. However, the development is somewhat uneven. The point about profit is asserted but not fully explained, and the counter-argument regarding conservation is brief. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your examples with more specific details or logical consequences. For instance, explaining how zoos could transition to sanctuary models would strengthen your argument. Overall, the ideas are clear and the position is consistent.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. You use basic cohesive devices like 'To start with', 'Furthermore', and 'On the other hand' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical. For example, the transition between the discussion of predators and the mention of cages feels abrupt. Additionally, some referencing is slightly unclear, such as 'share of this is not using for the conservation', where the subject of the sentence is vague. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring smoother transitions between ideas would enhance the coherence.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'natural habitat', 'endangered', and 'extinction'. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'not an essential' (should be 'not essential'), 'deteriorated' (used incorrectly as an intransitive verb here), and 'share of this is not using' (should be 'is not used'). These errors do not impede communication, but they limit the precision of your writing. To improve, focus on learning word families and common collocations rather than just individual words.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While you attempt complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement and articles. Examples include 'the rights for the animals has' (should be 'have'), 'a predators does' (should be 'a predator does'), 'preys' (prey is uncountable), and 'they gets' (should be 'they get'). These errors are noticeable but do not prevent the reader from understanding your meaning. To improve, pay closer attention to pluralization and subject-verb agreement during your proofreading process.
