Student answer (Band 6.0)

Everyone should be free in this free world including animals. I am totally agreed with the said statement to close the zoo's but not entirely. I will further discuss on this matter in context of my life experience and best to my sight.

firstly, animals are born to live in unboundries area. caged places are not ment for them. for instance, when i went first time in a pipli zoo in my hometown i found the tiger was not healthy he was super lazy just lying for 3 hours at same place which he shouldn't be. When i asked the employee , he shattered the truth about how these species lives here like tigers forget how to make their own food.

secondly, there an eagle with was caged in a small area. How could a bird ment for flying but is around the corner for their lifetime. There is one saying , kids would learn more here about animals instead of watching them over the screen. This argument somehow makes sense but those animials were there just for their physcial existence not for the what they real are.

Howerver, we should build more sancutires which has deleberately plethora of land where food chain naturally complete its cycle and its caged as well on the larger aspect. I belive jungle safaries should be prioritized more instead of watching animals in zoo also is more thrilling and live experience. For instance, i went to lion safari in hamiltion ontario where we line up in our car and driving at a low speed across all the animals there , that has its own connect.

To conclude, give what they deserve no one is happy in four walls. shut down all zoos and make more sancaturies and wildlife safaries.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have clearly stated your position in the introduction and maintained it throughout the essay. You address the prompt by discussing the negative aspects of zoos and proposing alternatives like sanctuaries and safaris. However, the development of your ideas is somewhat limited. For instance, the argument about children learning from animals is introduced but not fully explored or integrated into your main argument. While you provide personal examples, such as your visit to the Pipli zoo and the lion safari, these could be more effectively linked to the broader debate to strengthen your position. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed point that directly supports your thesis.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices like 'firstly', 'secondly', and 'to conclude' to signal the structure. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes disjointed, and the use of cohesive devices is occasionally mechanical or repetitive. Some transitions, such as 'Howerver' (spelling error) and 'How could a bird ment for flying but is around the corner', are awkward and hinder the smooth progression of ideas. Improving the variety of linking words and ensuring that pronouns clearly refer back to their antecedents would improve the overall coherence of your writing.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, allowing you to express your opinions clearly. You attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary such as 'sanctuaries', 'wildlife safaries', and 'food chain'. However, there are several instances of incorrect word choice and spelling errors, such as 'unboundries area' instead of 'unbounded areas', 'ment' instead of 'meant', and 'sancutires'. These errors occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling and collocations of the words you use. Expanding your range to include more precise academic vocabulary would also help you achieve a higher score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You demonstrate a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but your writing contains frequent grammatical errors. Issues include subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'animals were there just for their physcial existence'), incorrect verb forms (e.g., 'I am totally agreed'), and punctuation errors. Some sentences are structurally incomplete or confusing, such as 'How could a bird ment for flying but is around the corner for their lifetime.' While these errors do not completely prevent communication, they are frequent enough to impact the clarity of your message. You should focus on mastering basic sentence construction and proofreading for common errors like verb tense and article usage.
