Student answer (Band 6.5)
In today's world, people hold diverse opinion on a wide range of topics. Many individuals believe that animals should be keep open and zoos should be closed. I somewhat agree with this perspective and reasons of behind my argument will be discuss further.
To begin with, there is no denying the fact that keeping animals in the zoo can hearm their physical and mental health. This is because most of the continent's animal are uxd to excercising their instincts such as hunting, mating and running in the wild. Therefore, smalls parks can limit their abilities to do so and leading them more aggressive, depressed and other physical issues such as obesity and muscle atrophy due to lack of activity. For example, recent studies found that zoo animals suffer from joint issues due to limited space and others showed repetitive behaviours, indicating stress and poor mental health. This highlight negative impact of captivity on animal well-being.
On the other hand, keeping zoos closed completely can mainly effect funding for global wildlife conservation which provide medical services for endangered species. Additionally, zoos are primary aspect for animal study for children and create public awareness about the importance of wildlife. In addition, it is possible to use nature reserves as a way of entertain visitors and let them to connect with wildlife and learn more about animals. As a result, we will guarantee both safety for endangered species and entertainment for people in a healthy way.
In conclusion, keeping animals in zoos just for entertainment and not caring for what their needs, can leads to physical and mental issues such as anxiety and obesity. Therefore, I personally believe that allowing visitor in protected area is the ideal way to protect animal and entertain people at the same time.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 7.0
The response addresses all parts of the prompt, presenting a clear position that is maintained throughout. The arguments are relevant, with the first body paragraph focusing on animal welfare and the second on the conservation and educational benefits of zoos. While the ideas are generally well-developed, some points, such as the suggestion to use nature reserves as a form of entertainment, could have been expanded further to provide a more nuanced argument. The conclusion effectively summarizes the position, though it introduces a slight shift in focus by suggesting 'protected areas' as a specific alternative. Overall, the response is balanced and directly answers the prompt.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.5
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate the opposing viewpoints. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'On the other hand', and 'In addition' are used to guide the reader through the argument. However, there are instances where the flow is slightly mechanical, and some transitions could be more sophisticated. Referencing is generally clear, though some sentences, such as 'This highlight negative impact', lack proper grammatical connection to the preceding clause, which slightly affects the overall cohesion.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the student to express their ideas clearly. There is an attempt to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'endangered species', 'wildlife conservation', and 'muscle atrophy'. However, there are several word-choice errors and spelling mistakes, such as 'hearm' (harm), 'uxd' (used), and 'effect' (affect). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of the writing. To reach a higher band, the student should focus on more accurate collocations and ensure that word forms are used correctly in context.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay demonstrates a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. While the student attempts complex sentences, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with subject-verb agreement (e.g., 'This highlight negative impact') and verb forms (e.g., 'should be keep', 'can leads'). Punctuation is generally functional, but there are minor errors in sentence construction that occasionally distract the reader. Despite these errors, the meaning remains clear throughout the essay. Increasing the frequency of error-free complex sentences and focusing on basic grammatical accuracy would significantly improve the score in this criterion.
