Student answer (Band 6.0)
Animals are living creatures that are significant part of environment. Animals should no longer be required to kept in zoos so the zoos should be closed. I disagree with statement as zoos provide great revenue thus helping in economic growth.
To begin with, zoos are major tourist attraction in many countries that help them to generate a huge revenue which further contributes to GDP of country and helps for its economic growth. For instance, African lion safari is an amusement park as well as a zoo that requires an entry ticket for 50$ and so many people visit there during summer thus they generate a huge revenue that goes to government thus supporting the economic growth of Canada. t
Further, people get to explore different types of animals among them some are those that are rarely seen which enhance knowledge of people about them. Moreover, for welfare of animal's zoos provide them shelter and food thus they do not need to move here and there for food. Some species that are rare and about to extinct are under great care with zoo members. For example, red tiger, Amur leopard. Furthermore, some species are extinct wild, but they can be found in zoos surviving under human care.
To conclude, we can say that zoos should not be closed as it provides great benefits to animals as well as helps in economic growth of countries by generating a great revenue. However, government should make sure that proper care of animal should be done and there is enough space for them in zoos.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against closing zoos. The ideas are relevant, focusing on economic benefits and animal welfare. However, the development is somewhat superficial. For example, the argument regarding 'rare' animals and 'extinct' species is a bit repetitive and lacks depth. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments could be more thoroughly explored to reach a higher band. The response covers all parts of the task, but the development of ideas is limited, keeping it at a solid mid-level.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Furthermore' are used to link ideas. However, the flow is occasionally mechanical, and some transitions feel forced. Referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the sentence 'among them some are those that are rarely seen', which is syntactically awkward. Overall, the progression of ideas is coherent, but the use of cohesive devices lacks the flexibility required for a higher band.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task but lacks sophistication. There is some repetition of basic terms like 'revenue', 'economic growth', and 'animals'. While the student attempts to use some topic-specific vocabulary (e.g., 'GDP', 'species', 'welfare'), there are errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'extinct wild' instead of 'extinct in the wild'. The range is sufficient to communicate the message clearly, but it does not demonstrate the flexibility or precision expected at higher levels.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors, particularly with articles ('the' is often missing), pluralization ('animal's' instead of 'animals'), and verb forms ('required to kept' instead of 'required to be kept'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, and some sentences are run-on or lack necessary prepositions. While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to prevent a higher score. More attention to subject-verb agreement and article usage is needed.
