Student answer (Band 6.0)

Decades by decades, the number of different types of animals are getting reduce. Many believes that freedom of these animals should be granted by the government and as a result, all the zoos should be shut down.

The idea of keeping the zoos is very benficiary to the city becuase it will improve the economy as well as the opportunites for employment.

Take for an instance, keeping the animals like Tigers, Peacocks, Panthers and many rare species will attract the tourist to visit the zoo. This will aid the city in both the terms, i.e, money and popularity. Majority of the people will be able to see the presence of such rare animals. People of the city will get plethora of opportunites to get an employment in zoos.

Nevertheless, the innovative idea of closing down the zoos is very bright. Because, every animals has a right to their freedom. It is very significant to take good care of such wildlife. Afterall, forest is their true home. However, considering the pollution and other forest disaster like wildfire, it becomes very dangerous for these animals to survive. This could lead to thier extinction. Additionally, normal people will not be able to sight these wild animals like lions, tigers, black panthers and many more rare species. Closing down the zoos will also lead in the redcution of employment opportunites for people.

Overall, It is ostensible that the idea of keeping the animals in wildlife is not outweighing the advantages of keeping the zoos open. Hence, I disagree with the above statement of closing down the zoos. However, the government should support by funding the zoos in order to maintain environment like their natural habitat inside.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout, arguing against the closure of zoos. The ideas are relevant, focusing on economic benefits and conservation challenges. However, the development is somewhat inconsistent. While the economic argument is clear, the counter-argument regarding animal rights is introduced but then immediately undermined by the mention of environmental dangers, which makes the logical flow slightly repetitive. To reach a higher band, ensure that each paragraph focuses on a distinct, well-developed argument that directly supports your overall stance without contradicting itself within the same section.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and there is a clear introduction and conclusion. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'Nevertheless', 'Additionally', and 'Overall', but some transitions feel mechanical or slightly misused, such as the abrupt start to the second paragraph with 'Take for an instance'. Referencing is generally clear, though the flow between the idea of animal rights and the practical dangers of the wild could be smoother. The paragraphing is appropriate, but the internal structure of the paragraphs needs more careful signposting to guide the reader through the argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is adequate for the task, though there are several spelling errors ('benficiary', 'becuase', 'thier', 'redcution') and some awkward collocations ('forest disaster', 'sight these wild animals'). You demonstrate an attempt to use less common vocabulary like 'plethora', 'ostensible', and 'extinction', which is positive. However, the frequent spelling mistakes and occasional imprecise word choices prevent the response from reaching a higher band. Focusing on proofreading for common spelling errors and ensuring that words are used in their correct context will significantly improve your score.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'Decades by decades, the number of different types of animals are getting reduce' (should be 'are being reduced') and 'every animals has' (should be 'every animal has'). Subject-verb agreement and article usage are inconsistent throughout the text. While the meaning is generally clear, the frequency of these errors indicates a lack of control over more complex structures. Focusing on basic grammatical accuracy and sentence construction will help stabilize your writing.
