Student answer (Band 5.5)
There is an ongoing argument that animals such as lion, tiger are no longer live in zoos, therefore zoos should be locked down. It will be highly beneficial for it to be shutdown in order to save cost than living it empty. This essay will discuss my viewpoints with an example.
Firstly, Government spend a huge amount of money to care of wildlife. They should save fund and use in the construction of the need of the rural areas such as good roads and pipe borne water. A lot of people are suffering because of the way in which politicians channel funds to the wrong infrastructure with noticing the benefits for the community. So , it should be locked to provide basic needs of the citizens.
Furthermore, It will make the area to be more conducive to live in as there is reduced noise from the tourists. Zoo attracts a lot of people such as researchers from different countries to be trooping into the city thereby causing noise pollution. Once, it is closed community members will be very happy. In addition, the site should be used as another avenue of business to generate more income to the nation. To illustrate, if the site is used for the farming of rice which will exported to other countries to make more money since people no longer fancy animals seeing .
In conclusion, place for nurturing wild lifes for amusement purposes should closed up as individual no longer values it and a lot money ar being spent on it be the politics.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position in favor of closing zoos. However, the development of ideas is limited and somewhat tangential. The argument focuses heavily on the economic reallocation of funds and urban planning (noise pollution, farming) rather than the welfare of animals or the educational/conservation roles of zoos, which are central to the topic. While the position is consistent, the supporting arguments are not fully developed and rely on generalizations about government spending and urban development that lack depth. The response meets the minimum length requirement, but the content remains superficial.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. There is an attempt to use cohesive devices such as 'Firstly', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion'. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or inaccurate, such as the awkward transition 'Once, it is closed community members will be very happy'. The progression of ideas within paragraphs is occasionally disjointed, and the referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the concluding sentence where the connection between 'politics' and the previous arguments is vague.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and range required for a higher band. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word choices, such as 'locked down' (usually used for quarantine or security), 'trooping into', and 'wild lifes'. The student relies on basic vocabulary and struggles with collocations. While the meaning is generally clear, the lack of variety and the presence of errors in word formation limit the score.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('Government spend', 'Zoo attracts'), incorrect article usage, and awkward sentence construction ('animals such as lion, tiger are no longer live in zoos'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma usage. While the errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to demonstrate a lack of control over complex structures.
