Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is often argued that zoos should be closed because its is not necessary to kept animals in zoos. I completely disagree with this point of view because zoos are the only area in which animals are safe and secure.
To begin with, safety is the primary reasons for having zoos for the animals. Animals are safe and secure if they are in the zoos because they were provided with the good food and the place for live. They get good care in the zoos and don’t feel lonely or alone when people are around them to visit. Moreover, if the animals are kept in zoos people are also feel safe. For instance, animals like lion and elephant are very dangerous for people if they move to an open environment. They can harm people and even cause death if they attack any individual.
Furthermore, entertainment is the another reason. People love to visit zoos and explore different type of animals there. They like to spend their time with their children in the zoos and it also makes children’s happy when they saw different type of animals there. Moreover, this also increase their knowledge and information. Such as, they get to about general knowledge such as who is the national bird or national animals.
In conclusion, I disagree with the statement that zoos should be closed because it act as an entertainment place for children and give knowledge to them. Moreover, it is the only place where all animals feel safe and secure.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by taking a clear position against closing zoos. However, the development of ideas is limited. While you mention safety and entertainment, the arguments are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the point about animals being 'safe' in zoos is not balanced against the counter-argument of animal welfare or conservation, which are standard points in this discussion. To reach a higher band, you should expand on your points with more specific examples or logical reasoning. The conclusion effectively restates your position, but the overall development remains at a basic level, focusing more on simple assertions than detailed analysis.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0
The essay is organized into clear paragraphs, which helps the reader follow your argument. You use basic cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'In conclusion' to link your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical, and the flow between sentences can be choppy. For example, the transition between the safety of animals and the safety of people is abrupt. Additionally, referencing is occasionally unclear, such as in the phrase 'it act as an entertainment place', where the pronoun 'it' does not clearly refer back to a specific noun. Improving the variety of linking words would enhance the logical flow.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
Your vocabulary is generally adequate for the task, but it is quite basic and repetitive. You frequently use simple words like 'good', 'safe', and 'animals'. There are also some errors in word choice and collocation, such as 'place for live' (should be 'place to live') and 'makes children’s happy' (should be 'makes children happy'). To improve, you should aim to use more precise vocabulary related to the topic, such as 'conservation', 'educational value', or 'habitat'. The current range is sufficient to convey your meaning, but it lacks the flexibility and precision required for higher bands.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains a mix of simple and some complex sentence structures. However, there are frequent grammatical errors that occur throughout the text. Examples include subject-verb agreement issues ('animals... is', 'people are also feel safe'), incorrect verb forms ('not necessary to kept'), and article usage errors ('the national bird'). While these errors do not completely impede communication, they are frequent enough to be noticeable. To improve, focus on mastering basic sentence construction, particularly subject-verb agreement and the correct use of infinitives, before attempting more complex structures.
