Student answer (Band 6.5)
It is often argue that keeping animals in zoos is no longer necessary and that these facilities should therefore be closed. I strongly disagree to the given statment. My inclination will be justified in the following paragraphs.
Out of all arguements, the strongest one prove my is zoos can help to protect endangured species, such as tigers and gaint pandas, by providing a safe environments and breeding programs. Furthermore, zoos provide valuable opportunities for researchers and offers educational experiences that help students and the general public learn about wild life.
The other reason to prove my point is that some animals are rescud and safely profected in zoos, because they may struggle to survive in the wild and can easily become prey to other animals or predators Additionally, well maintain zoos are helpful to boost
economy. By this I mean that zoos can attract children, young people and tourists which helps generate significant revenue for goverments and supporting the economy. Moreover, people can observe the biodiversity of the world in zoos.
On the contrary, some people counter claim the mentioned support. The foremost argument they do is individuals can easily gain knowledge and information about different species through the internet. Therefore visiting a zoo is no longer necessary. Secondly, keeping wild animals in captivity can sometime negatively affect their psychological well being.
Thus, to wrap up the discussion it can be said that despite the availability of extensive online resources about wildlife, I believe that zoos offer children valuable opportunities to observe a wide variety of species and learn about biodiversity as well as help to protect endanger species.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.5
The response addresses all parts of the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding conservation, education, and economic benefits are relevant and supported with examples like tigers and giant pandas. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For instance, the point about economic benefits is mentioned but not fully explored in terms of how it justifies the existence of zoos. While the position is clear, the essay would benefit from more depth in the supporting arguments to reach a higher band. Overall, it fulfills the requirements of the task effectively.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 7.0
The essay is logically organized with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Paragraphing is used appropriately to separate different arguments. Cohesive devices such as 'Furthermore', 'Moreover', and 'On the contrary' are used to link ideas, although some transitions feel slightly mechanical. The progression of ideas is generally clear, though the connection between the economic argument and the overall topic of animal welfare could be smoother. Referencing is generally accurate, and the structure supports the reader's understanding of the writer's stance.
Lexical Resource — Band 6.0
The vocabulary is adequate for the task, allowing the writer to express their ideas clearly. There are attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary such as 'endangered species', 'biodiversity', and 'captivity'. However, there are several spelling errors, such as 'arguements', 'endangured', 'gaint', 'rescud', and 'profected'. These errors are frequent enough to be noticeable but do not impede communication. To improve, the writer should focus on accuracy in spelling and attempt to use more precise collocations to demonstrate a wider range of lexical control.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 6.0
The essay uses a mix of simple and complex sentence structures. There are several grammatical errors throughout the text, such as 'It is often argue' (should be 'argued'), 'prove my is' (should be 'prove my point is'), and 'well maintain zoos' (should be 'well-maintained'). Subject-verb agreement and verb forms are occasionally incorrect. While the meaning is always clear, the frequency of these errors prevents the essay from reaching a higher band. The writer should focus on proofreading to catch basic errors in tense and word form.
