Student answer (Band 6.0)

The government are taking preventive measures to save wild animals. Some argue that zoos are essential for safety of animals. However, others believe that closed down. I agree with the statement that zoos should remain opened. The reasons for this will be discussed below in details.

To begin with, the government is putting their efforts to save rare species. Zoo is the only area where all the endangered species could be kept safely. If these species are left freely in forest then it can become food for many predators. It is crucial to save rare species which helps to make a balance in ecosystem. As a result, people would get a chance to see these species live in zoos and could be also saved for future generation. For instance, black panther are very rarely seen but some zoo has this animal. Furthermore, children living in cities could also explore zoo to gather many new information. This would be really helpful for their future as it would be more easy for them to understand about animals. Consequently, it creates a sense of responsibility in youngsters toward animals.

Moreover, in case if some wild animals are left freely in jungles could be dangerous to humans. Zoos are really helpful in capturing these dangerous animals for the safety of people. There are numerous zoos in world which had provided shelter to many animals if these animals are left unrestricted they may come on streets which can be harmful for humans. As a result, people would be afraid of roaming alone at night on streets. For example, there are some poisonous snakes whose antidote is still not discovered. These snakes if left unrestricted could lead to death if they bit nay human being.

To conclude, undoubtedly animals also enjoy the freedom. However, zoos are required to make animals feel more safe and secure. Not only this but also zoo teach children to keep their endangered species safe for future generation. Therefore, zoo are essential with many benefits.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have addressed the prompt and maintained a clear position throughout the essay. The ideas are relevant, such as the role of zoos in conservation and public safety. However, some arguments are under-developed or rely on generalizations. For instance, the claim that 'all endangered species could be kept safely' in zoos is a broad statement that lacks nuance regarding the limitations of captive breeding. Additionally, the argument about dangerous animals roaming streets is somewhat hyperbolic. To reach a higher band, ensure that your supporting examples are more realistic and logically sound, and provide a more balanced exploration of the counter-arguments before refuting them.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. You use cohesive devices such as 'To begin with', 'Moreover', and 'Consequently' to link your ideas. However, the use of these devices is sometimes mechanical or slightly repetitive. There are also instances where referencing is unclear, such as 'others believe that closed down', which is grammatically incomplete. The flow between sentences is generally functional, but the transition between the idea of conservation and the idea of public safety could be smoother to improve the overall progression of your argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using terms like 'endangered species', 'ecosystem', and 'antidote'. However, there are frequent errors in word choice and collocation that occasionally impede the flow, such as 'gather many new information' (should be 'gain information') and 'more easy' (should be 'easier'). Some phrasing is also repetitive, such as the frequent use of 'left freely' or 'left unrestricted'. To improve, focus on using more precise collocations and ensuring that word forms are used correctly in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout the text. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('The government are', 'zoo are essential'), missing articles ('in world', 'in forest'), and awkward phrasing ('if these animals are left unrestricted they may come on streets'). While these errors do not completely prevent the reader from understanding your message, they occur frequently enough to impact the clarity of your writing. Focusing on basic subject-verb agreement and article usage will significantly improve your score.
