Student answer (Band 6.0)

Most of the people often believe that zoos have been no longer need to kept animals. This essay will totally disagree with the statement because zoos help in conserve endangered species of animals and also provide knowledge of wildlife to people.

To commence with, to save species of endangered animals zoo must be kept so that these animals should be preserve for long time as they are part of our ecological lifecycle. As a result it also maintains balance between nature and foodchain. For example a survey conducted by Wildlife Sancturies showed that due to presence of zoos more than 60 percent of species are saved recently in last five years.

To add on, wildlife knowledge is another reason of

disagreement as everyone has to know about distinct species of animals which enhance the learning of new generation in schools. Zoos also educate our children about the distinct species of animals which are going to extinct and some methods that how should human make efforts to save these wildlife lives. As a result humans get to know about advantages of wildlife on our earth and nature also maintain better sustainability in wildlife preserves. For instance, a recent study conducted by Times of India showed that be keeping animals in zoo most of our teenagers are getting interested in doing research on endangered species in future.

To conclude, according to my perspective zoo does not shut down instead they are poorly managed by public bodies. They are to be opened forever as they protect our wildlife creatures and educate people about wildlife.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

The response addresses the prompt and maintains a clear position throughout. The arguments regarding conservation and education are relevant, though they are somewhat repetitive and lack depth. For instance, the claim that '60 percent of species are saved' is a vague statistic that lacks context. While the position is consistent, the development of ideas is limited; the essay would benefit from more specific examples or a deeper exploration of the counter-arguments. The conclusion restates the position clearly, but the overall development remains at a basic level, preventing it from reaching a higher band.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, each with a clear central topic. Cohesive devices are used, such as 'To commence with', 'To add on', and 'For instance', which help guide the reader. However, some transitions feel mechanical or slightly unnatural, such as 'To add on'. Additionally, the referencing is sometimes unclear, particularly in the second paragraph where the connection between 'wildlife preserves' and the previous sentence is disjointed. Paragraphing is used appropriately, but the flow between sentences could be smoother to achieve a more professional, academic tone.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks the precision and variety required for higher bands. There are several instances of awkward phrasing and incorrect word forms, such as 'have been no longer need to kept' and 'are going to extinct'. While the student attempts to use topic-specific vocabulary like 'endangered species' and 'ecological lifecycle', the overall range is limited. Some collocations are unnatural, such as 'be keeping animals', which hinders the sophistication of the writing. To improve, the student should focus on accurate word forms and more varied, precise academic vocabulary.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Examples include 'Most of the people often believe that zoos have been no longer need to kept animals' and 'zoo does not shut down instead they are poorly managed'. There are consistent issues with verb forms, passive voice construction, and subject-verb agreement. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors is high. A greater focus on proofreading for basic grammatical accuracy and sentence structure variety is necessary to improve the score.
