Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5

The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument, though the position is somewhat confusing. You state you are 'partially agree' in the introduction, but the conclusion leans heavily toward closing zoos. The ideas are relevant, such as education and economic benefits versus animal welfare, but the development is inconsistent. For instance, the argument regarding 'UK pool authority' is unclear and lacks logical connection to the topic of zoos. To improve, ensure your position is clearly stated and maintained throughout, and provide more logical, well-supported examples rather than relying on vague statistics.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organised into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate, such as 'In the opposite side' or 'To conclusion'. Some sentences are disjointed, making the flow of ideas feel repetitive or forced. Referencing is occasionally unclear, particularly when you switch between discussing the benefits and drawbacks of zoos. Improving the transition between sentences and using a wider variety of linking words would help the essay flow more naturally and logically.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.5

The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic phrasing and some awkward collocations, such as 'some extend of individuals' instead of 'a certain number of people' or 'stream the real life' instead of 'observe the natural behaviour'. There are also instances of word-choice errors, such as 'not open' instead of 'closed' or 'pool authority' which seems out of context. To reach a higher band, focus on using more academic collocations and precise terminology related to animal welfare and conservation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('people wants'), incorrect preposition usage, and awkward phrasing ('as they should not more freely'). Punctuation is also inconsistent, particularly with comma placement. While the meaning is generally understandable, the frequency of these errors prevents the writing from reaching a higher band. Focusing on basic sentence construction and proofreading for subject-verb agreement would significantly improve your score.
