Student answer (Band 6.0)

There are a number of people who believe that zoos ought to shut down completely as they have not need to kept wildlife in zoos. In my opinion, zoos should not be closed because of certain reasons which I will discuss in my forthcoming paragraphs, so I am against this viewpoint.

To commence with, There are a myriad of individuals who ponder that we should not preserve animals in zoos, that is why zoos need to be closed. From my perspective, zoos play a paramount role in our world. These should be available in every nation as it provides useful information regarding animals life to people as well as especially children who really admire to visit zoo to watch and know different species of animals. For instance, numerous educational institutions take their pupils to zoo tour to broaden their knowledge about wildlife, in addition they also give them assignment while visiting zoo, so that they can attain important information and write it down in their work. Therefore, zoos should not be closed.

Furthermore, there is one more reason why I does not support this statement. Zoo's team did extraordinarily struggle to capture wild animals, so that they can represent them to the common people which is extremely dangerous when they doing it. Zoo's team also try to keep animals with extra care by providing them their essential needs such as shelter and food. Moreover, due to deforestation animals had lose their habitat so zoos are beneficial for animals to give them proper care. Consequently, zoos not only provide benefits to animals but also individuals.

In conclusion, without any doubt, I consider a viewpoint that zoos should not be closed because this provides shelter and food to animals, in addition children and people grab knowledge about distinct species of wildlife. Moreover, zoos also provide employment to many people.

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 6.0

You have clearly stated your position against closing zoos and maintained this stance throughout the essay. You provided relevant reasons, such as the educational value for children and the role of zoos in animal conservation and habitat loss mitigation. However, the development of these ideas is somewhat superficial. For example, the point about 'employment' in the conclusion is introduced too late and lacks supporting detail. To reach a higher band, ensure that each main body paragraph focuses on a single, well-developed argument with specific examples or logical extensions, rather than listing several points briefly. The task is addressed, but the depth of analysis could be improved.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 6.0

The essay is organized into logical paragraphs, and you use basic cohesive devices such as 'To commence with', 'Furthermore', and 'In conclusion' to guide the reader. However, the flow between sentences is sometimes mechanical, and there are instances where referencing is unclear or repetitive. For example, the phrase 'that is why zoos need to be closed' is a bit redundant given the previous sentence. Additionally, some transitions feel forced. To improve, try to vary your linking words and ensure that each sentence flows naturally from the previous one, rather than relying on a standard list of transition markers.

Lexical Resource — Band 6.0

You demonstrate an adequate range of vocabulary for the task, using words like 'paramount', 'myriad', and 'deforestation' appropriately. However, there are several instances of awkward word choice and collocation errors, such as 'have not need to kept' (should be 'no need to keep') and 'admire to visit' (should be 'enjoy visiting'). These errors do not impede communication, but they do limit the precision of your writing. To achieve a higher score, focus on learning common collocations and ensuring that your word forms are grammatically correct in context.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.5

You attempt a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors that detract from the overall quality. Common issues include subject-verb agreement ('I does not support', 'animals had lose'), incorrect verb forms ('admire to visit'), and awkward phrasing ('when they doing it'). While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors indicate a lack of control over complex structures. To improve, focus on mastering basic subject-verb agreement and tense consistency before attempting more complex sentence patterns. Proofreading for these specific types of errors would significantly improve your score.
