Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, which significantly impacts the development of ideas. While you present a position, the arguments are underdeveloped and the conclusion is incomplete, cutting off mid-sentence. You address the prompt by discussing both sides, but the lack of depth and the failure to complete the essay prevent a higher score. To improve, ensure you fully expand on your points with specific examples and provide a clear, finished conclusion that restates your position.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5

The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the progression of ideas is sometimes hindered by awkward phrasing and limited use of cohesive devices. While you use transition words like 'Firstly' and 'However', the connections between sentences are occasionally mechanical. The incomplete final paragraph also disrupts the overall coherence of the response. Improving the flow between sentences and ensuring all paragraphs are fully developed will help create a more logical and cohesive argument.

Lexical Resource — Band 5.0

The vocabulary is generally adequate for basic communication but lacks the range and precision required for higher bands. There are several spelling errors, such as 'weather' instead of 'whether', 'livilhood', 'nurishment', 'streanth', 'extit', 'spices', and 'preditators'. These errors are frequent and occasionally distract the reader. To improve, focus on learning the correct spelling of common academic terms and try to incorporate more sophisticated vocabulary related to the topic of animal welfare and conservation.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0

The essay contains a mix of simple and complex sentence structures, but there are frequent grammatical errors throughout. Examples include 'nobody like to live' (subject-verb agreement), 'every living creatures have to be a freedom' (incorrect phrasing), and 'animals those kept in zoos' (relative clause error). Punctuation is also inconsistent. While the meaning is generally clear, these persistent errors in basic grammar and sentence construction limit the score. Focusing on subject-verb agreement and correct sentence formation will be key to improving your accuracy.
