Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 4.0

The response fails to meet the minimum word count requirement of 250 words, as it is only 94 words long. Consequently, the ideas are severely underdeveloped and lack the necessary depth and supporting evidence required for an IELTS Task 2 essay. While you clearly state your disagreement with the prompt, the argument is limited to a single, brief paragraph focusing only on the entertainment value of zoos. To achieve a higher score, you must expand your response by exploring multiple perspectives, providing detailed examples, and ensuring the essay is structured with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion.

Coherence and Cohesion — Band 4.0

The response is written as a single, long, run-on sentence rather than a structured essay. There is a lack of paragraphing, which is essential for organizing ideas logically. Cohesive devices are largely absent, and the flow of ideas is disjointed, making it difficult for the reader to follow your argument. To improve, you should organize your response into distinct paragraphs—an introduction, two body paragraphs, and a conclusion—and use linking words such as 'furthermore,' 'consequently,' or 'in contrast' to connect your ideas more effectively.

Lexical Resource — Band 4.5

The vocabulary used is very basic and repetitive, such as the repeated use of 'animals' and 'zoo.' There are also errors in word form and usage, such as 'the peoples are always amaze' instead of 'people are always amazed.' The range of vocabulary is insufficient to express complex ideas or arguments. To improve, you should aim to use a wider variety of topic-specific vocabulary related to wildlife conservation, education, and animal welfare, and ensure you use the correct word forms in your sentences.

Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 4.0

The response consists of a single, grammatically incorrect run-on sentence. There are frequent errors in punctuation, such as unnecessary commas and the misuse of apostrophes (e.g., 'girraffe’s'). Subject-verb agreement is also problematic, as seen in 'kids and the adults are love seeing.' The lack of complex sentence structures significantly limits your score. To improve, focus on writing shorter, grammatically complete sentences and practice using a mix of simple and complex structures, ensuring that you use correct verb tenses and punctuation throughout your writing.
