Student answer (Band 5.5)
It is undeniable that visiting zoo in urban or rural area is very crucial and exciting for children as well as for the adults. In this regard, that there is no longer need to have animals kept in zoos, so that zoos should be closed. I agree upto some extent with this notion due to many reasons which will be outlined in forthcoming fragments with relevant conclusion.
To commence with, there are some drawbacks defining of not opening of zoos are children cannot learn and experience the animals nature and bio diversity. The prime one is that, people cannot figure out what type of animals, birds and species are having on our earth. By seeing of tigers, lions, elephant helps students to learn the animals history and gain knowledge of different species of carnivorous and herbivorous. Secondly, also results in helping of the ecosystem in a significant manner. For instance, Government has also benefit of gaining income by visiting of zoos as a purchasing of ticket by national and international people.
However, there are some benefits of closing the zoos in city as well as rural areas. First and foremost is that independence of animals and species around the world. they are free to go, move and live life independently like human beings. By keeping in cage, feels like jail to them. For example, South Korea government emphasis on releasing of animals that are kept in a zoo as for their freedom which is not harmful to human beings like elephant.
To conclude, although there are several drawbacks of this statement such as security of people, unemployment of care takers of zoos, lack of knowledge among students. Government should open some zoos for in a rural areas rather than urban areas as for the large geographical area where animals can freely move like ranthambhore fort located in rajasthan

Task Achievement / Task Response — Band 5.5
The response addresses the prompt by discussing both sides of the argument, though the position is somewhat contradictory. In the introduction, you state you agree with closing zoos, but the conclusion suggests they should remain open in rural areas. This lack of a clear, consistent position throughout the essay impacts the score. While you provide reasons for both sides, the development is often superficial. For example, the point about government income is mentioned but not fully explained, and the example regarding South Korea is vague. To improve, ensure your stance is clearly defined in the introduction and maintained consistently, with each paragraph providing a well-developed argument rather than a list of points.
Coherence and Cohesion — Band 5.5
The essay is organized into paragraphs, which helps the reader follow the structure. However, the use of cohesive devices is often mechanical or inaccurate. Phrases like 'To commence with' and 'In this regard' are used, but the logical flow between sentences is frequently interrupted by grammatical errors. For instance, the transition between the benefits of zoos and the drawbacks is abrupt. Additionally, referencing is sometimes unclear, such as in the second paragraph where the connection between ecosystem benefits and government income is disjointed. Improving the use of linking words and ensuring each paragraph has a clear topic sentence would significantly enhance the coherence of your writing.
Lexical Resource — Band 5.5
The vocabulary is generally adequate for the task but lacks precision and variety. You rely on basic terms and struggle with collocations, such as 'animals nature' instead of 'animal nature' or 'bio diversity' (which should be one word). There are also repetitive phrases like 'animals and species' and 'in city as well as rural areas'. While you attempt to use some topic-specific vocabulary like 'carnivorous' and 'herbivorous', the overall range is limited. To reach a higher band, focus on using more sophisticated vocabulary and ensure that words are used in their correct context and form.
Grammatical Range and Accuracy — Band 5.0
The essay contains frequent grammatical errors that occasionally impede clarity. There are issues with article usage ('the animals history'), subject-verb agreement, and sentence structure. Many sentences are fragmented or run-on, such as 'By seeing of tigers, lions, elephant helps students...', which is grammatically incorrect. While you attempt some complex structures, they are often faulty, leading to a lack of control. To improve, focus on basic sentence construction—ensuring every sentence has a clear subject and verb—and proofread for common errors like missing articles and incorrect preposition usage.
